This is why every man will envy Arjun Kapoor

An ‘Ishaqzaada,’ in one and a super-progressive millennial ‘Ka to his Ki’ in another, actor Arjun Kapoor has worn, and continues to wear many hats. While Arjun’s upcoming projects — Panipat, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and India’s Most Wanted — have gotten the world excited, it’s his nonchalant style that caught our eye. From strutting in cool casual sneakers to tipping a hat in a pinstripe suit, Kapoor can do it all with a big smile.

LuxeBook caught up with Arjun in Mumbai at the launch of Italian luxury brand, Emporio Armani’s Spring Summer capsule collection, Remix, to find out more about his new-found, high-toned style. We also got him to spill the beans on his most treasured possession and how brands and Bollywood work in tandem with each other like a “couple” to create a buzz.

I connect with Emporio Armani in a very strange and unique way. I bought my first-ever “expensive” pair of underwear from the brand. In fact, growing up, the first-ever brand that I discovered myself was Armani. The brand’s simple white shirts, black shirts, suits and shoes are timeless. It is one those entities that has never tried to copy or follow trends. It has created them.

What really appeals to me from Emporio Armani’s new collection is the suit I’m wearing. It is paired with a geometric patterned bottle green knit sweater, a silver lined pocket square and white sneakers.

Celebrity and brand affiliations share a give and take relationship; philosophies are exchanged in terms of ideologies. I’d like to believe that Emporio Armani chose me for who I am, and what I stand for. The give and take, in a way, is like that of a husband-wife relationship. We’re a couple now! These associations help build chatter and conversation around the brand.

My personal style has evolved a lot in the last couple of years. My ever-changing body type has made me more aware of what works for me and what doesn’t.

I have always been a classic guy. A white t-shirt or a white shirt with a pair of blue jeans is as appealing to me as wearing the coolest and the most expensive brands in the world.

My style icon is David Beckham.footballer david beckham

The last thing that I bought and loved was a denim jacket, made by this new Indian designer; who goes by the name Valkyrie. The poster of my favourite Hollywood film, Snatch, is spray-painted on it.

I only believe in one thing – fashion should be comfortable! If I feel that an item of clothing is effortless and will look good on me then I end up really relating to it and its brand.

My most treasured possession is my car. I drive a Maserati, and I love it very much. Ever since I was a child, I was obsessed with buying a sports car with my own money, and this car is the fulfillment of that dream. I have worked very hard for it.

The one indulgence that I can’t forego is good clothes!

Luxury to me is waking up and realising that I have worked hard enough to achieve something that’s exclusive only to me.

My favourite shopping haunts are New York and London. I recently travelled to Milan and loved it as well.

A day in my life usually plays out in these two scenarios: when I am shooting, I work a 7 am to 7 pm shift. Post it, I hit the gym, eat my dinner, watch some television and then pass out. On the days that I’m not working, I tend to be lazy and hangout at home with my friends or go out with them. But of late, I have become very aware of the fact that I like to sleep early and wake up early.

I unwind by watching Netflix and chilling.

I love food. My favourite dish in the world is my grandmother’s ‘haath ka khana.’ I don’t think I’d ever be able to look beyond that.

If I weren’t an actor, I’d be a director.

My inspiration comes from the world around me. I think as an actor you need to be able to find inspiration in various forms. You must keep your eyes and ears open; your mouth shut and just life in. There’s inspiration available even in conversations. If I want to be inspired by something I can find it. It’s really up to you to be open to be inspired.

I am not keen on starting a business venture of my own at this point because I am not somebody who’s good at multitasking. For me, I only want to focus on my acting.
