Amrut Strikes Half-Century with 50th Single Malt Launch
There are launches and then there are moments that quietly shift the cultural conversation. At Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel and Convention Center, one such moment unfolded as Amrut Distilleries unveiled its landmark 50th single malt not at their distillery or private vault but at Zarf, the hotel’s signature Indian fine dining destination.
Being the first private label in India, the partnership signals both maturity and momentum. Having placed Indian whisky firmly on the global map with the international acclaim of Amrut Fusion, the brand once again demonstrates its instinct for timing choosing to anchor this milestone within a luxury hospitality narrative rather than a traditional spirits showcase. This was not merely a new whisky reveal, but a statement about where Indian luxury stands today rooted deeply in provenance yet confident enough to reinterpret itself through collaboration.

Conceived as the first Indian single malt created exclusively for a restaurant, the bespoke expression marks a coming together of two institutions that understand craft not as nostalgia but as living design. Distilled from Indian six row barley and matured for over six years in a carefully chosen refill virgin American oak cask, the whisky was shaped with intention to sit alongside Zarf’s culinary philosophy which draws from the flavours of forgotten India and reimagines them for the modern luxury diner.

At Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield, food and beverage destinations are not treated as amenities but as cultural platforms. This collaboration reinforces the hotel’s vision of experience led partnerships where cuisine spirit and storytelling intersect. Zarf continues to evolve as a space where Indian heritage is expressed in a globally relevant language without dilution.

For Amrut Distilleries, the release carries historic weight. The whisky itself is layered and expressive. On the nose it opens with nostalgic warmth creamy malt notes reminiscent of complan and vanilla cream competing playfully for attention before roasted coffee orchard fruits and cocoa rich chocolate emerge. The palate is velvety and expansive fruit marmalade floral undertones delicate citrus and the gentlest tease of cracked black pepper unfolding with elegance. The finish lingers with a passion fruit sweetness long confident and deeply satisfying.
At Zarf, the single malt was introduced through a thoughtfully curated menu designed to echo its depth and character. Mushroom ki galouti with Lucknow potli spices and saffron warqi offered earthy refinement. Peshawari Namak Mandi lamb chops and lamb galouti kebabs finished with saffron warqi delivered richness and balance. Dal e Zarf slow cooked in stoneware with yellow moong lentils and desi ghee grounded the experience in comfort elevated to craft.

The evening extended beyond the table. A fashion walk curated by Prasad Bidapa featuring Hemant Trevedi’s designs added a visual layer to the narrative with silhouettes and tones inspired by the colours and fluidity of the whisky itself. It was subtle intentional and aligned with the evening’s emphasis on craftsmanship across disciplines.

Together Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield and Amrut Distilleries set a new benchmark for experiential luxury in India. One that privileges collaboration over spectacle and storytelling over excess. In doing so they remind us that the future of Indian luxury lies not in imitation but in confident self expression where memory innovation and taste converge.
