Lexus ES 2026 Debuts in India at ₹89.99 Lakh

Long before ‘quiet luxury’ became a buzzword, Lexus had already built its identity around it. Launched in 1989 by Toyota to take on the dominance of European luxury carmakers, Lexus quickly carved a niche with its obsessive attention to detail, near-silent cabins and a distinctly Japanese approach to craftsmanship. The ES was first introduced in the same year, and has remained one of the brand’s most consistent global bestsellers, evolving with each generation while staying true to that core philosophy.

Now the launch of Lexus ES 500e EV (priced at ₹89.99 lakh) in India may seem like just another premium sedan at first glance, but this eighth-generation model marks Lexus’ serious push into the EV space.

At the heart of the new ES is a 74.7 k Wh battery paired with dual electric motors (in the 500e), producing around 338 bhp and delivering all-wheel drive performance; good for a 0–100 km/h sprint in roughly 5.5 seconds. Range figures hover around the 500+ km mark, making it as practical as it is refined. Built on Lexus’ updated TNGA-K platform, the car is now larger, wider and more spacious, translating into a more lounge-like rear seat experience, something Indian luxury buyers care deeply about.

Step inside, and the ES leans fully into what Lexus does best – quiet luxury. There’s a massive 14-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless chargers, and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system that turns the cabin into a rolling concert hall. The interiors are layered with premium materials like bamboo trims and soft-touch finishes, while ambient lighting and ultra-supportive seats enhance the overall sensory experience. With features like multiple airbags, ADAS systems, stability control and a 360-degree camera setup, safety  hasn’t been overlooked either.

Design-wise, the ES feels sharper and more future-facing, with a sleeker interpretation of Lexus’ signature spindle grille, a coupe-like silhouette, and a full-width LED light bar at the rear. It’s less about aggressive presence and more about understated sophistication; a car that doesn’t need to shout to be noticed.

In a segment dominated by German rivals, the 2026 Lexus ES stands apart by doing things differently, quietly redefining what modern luxury mobility in India can look like.
