Anita Dongre’s nature-inspired lehengas
Schenelle Dsouza
The natural world continues to flourish and inspire us with its beauty. Nature is one of the greatest inspirations for creativity whether it’s art, design or even fashion. For designer Anita Dongre it is beyond nature. It’s the spirit of all living things, the beauty of flora and fauna.

In her new Spring/Summer collection ’22 titled Paradise Found, Anita Dongre looks at the world around us for inspiration. The result? A mesmerising collection of vibrant lehengas meant for a chic modern-day bride.

Paradise Found pays homage to the cycles of nature, celebrating the interconnectedness of all living beings – leaves, flowers, birds with their gorgeous plumes. It’s the intricate detailing inspired by the rich, innate joy of flora and fauna.
The pieces, which are primarily bridal and occasion-wear, feature the brand’s signature attention to detail, with applique work, intricate craftsmanship and bright, happy prints.

The collection is distributed into three creations – Magic Magpies, Flamingo Paradise and Swan Song Lehenga Sets. Made with sustainable fibres, the lehengas are light and breezy and come in vibrant colours like pink, blue, green and orange.

Magic Magpies features an eclectic mix of prints with magpies weaving in and out of flora, framed against subtle shimmering embroidery.

Flamingo Paradise features colourful wild plants and flamingo prints. Subtle embroidery makes its ways onto the waist of the skirt as well as the blouse, with whimsical trinkets on the dupatta.

Swan Song is a much more vibrant collection with graceful swans fluttering in a tropical paradise of prints. Unlike the previous two selections, Swan Song includes sarees and jacket sets in matching prints.
