Designer active wear for your summer wardrobe

For nearly two decades, Label Ritu Kumar has celebrated the Indian textiles through her indigenous designs. The veteran designer borrows heavily from traditional weaves and embroideries taking Indian craft to the world. The designer has been celebrated for her remarkable collection of Indian wear that combine luxury and sophistication while remaining authentic. And now, Label Ritu Kumar is all set for a new chapter with her first active wear collection.

Featuring Shanaya Kapoor as the face of the collection, the new active wear line is a ‘Cool-girl collection with a feminine spin’. Ritu Kumar has always tailored her designs for the contemporary urban woman, and her new athleisure line is not different.  

Translating her signature prints onto co-ords, the new active wear collection draws statement floral prints on soft pastel-hued silhouettes – polo T-shirts, pleated skirts and lace blouses that add a fun spin to sporty.

This isn’t the first time a designer brand has experimented with athleisure collections. Adding their own emblems and motifs, brands have curated active wear collections that are both sporty and stylish. Take a look at some of this season’s top athleisure picks.  

Balmain

Balmain’s signature logo collections is a fashion statement today. A statement that does not exclude their active wear collections. Offering a range of crop tops, leggings, sweatshirts, shorts and T-shirts, the brand’s latest active wear collection boasts Balmain’s signature logo plastered in bold letters adding some oomph to the comfortable outfit.  

Paco Rabanne

Made with comfortable, technical materials, Paco Rabanne’s new collection is said to be an ‘active wear inspired casual wear collection’. Intended for everyday life, these casual wear pieces are absolutely stylish and create an outfit that looks and feels complete, like a second skin. Available in black, silver and two-toned pieces, the collection features everything from crop tops and leggings to sweatshirts and cycling shorts, t-shirts, jackets and more.  

Ralph Lauren 

From sombre neutrals to popping colours, Ralph Lauren’s active wear collections are anything but boring. Stylish and comfortable, the brand’s selection of active leggings, pants, shirts, and more come in an array or fabric options including French terry, cotton, jersey, cashmere and more.  

Reebok x Victoria Beckham

A mix of relaxed demeanour and elevated streetwear with technical performance, Reebok x Victoria Beckham collection captures the designer’s aesthetic beautifully. Blending a sophisticated colour palette with neutral colour tones, these interchangeable pieces move with you from the street to the gym and back again.  

Stella McCartney X Adidas

Adidas by Stella McCartney is a unique collaboration that intersects high-fashion with functional sportswear for the modern woman. Interestingly, Stella McCartney’s Adidas collection was one of the first designer sportswear collections, which later inspired other designer sportswear launches. A fashionable collection that is also conscious, the latest collection is crafted from recycled materials and dyed using a water saving process.  

Versace 

Versace features a strikingly edgy athletics line. Adding a very Versace twist to active wear, the designer collection features a bold assortment of predominantly black attired splashed with signature Versace motifs like Medusa, Greca and Barocco in contrasting colours of gold, blue, red and pink.
