Eclettica is Bvlgari’s Most Artistic Turn Yet

High jewellery has always been about fantasy, and every once in a while, a house comes along and rewrites the rules entirely. Enter Bvlgari with Eclettica, a collection that’s built on the idea that beauty comes from contrast. With Eclettica, the maison leans into bold juxtapositions, like colour, form, scale to create pieces that feel almost alive. At the heart of the collection are over 150 high jewellery creations, complemented by an array of watches, one-of-a-kind bags and even fragrances. Leading the narrative is a tight edit of nine exceptional pieces, aptly titled Capolavori (literally “masterpieces”).

To understand why this moment feels so significant, you have to go back to 1884, when Sotirio Bulgari first established the house in Rome. Unlike its more restrained European counterparts, Bvlgari built its identity on excess, colour and experimentation; famously embracing vibrant gemstones, bold volumes and unconventional pairings long before they were widely accepted in high jewellery. By the 1950s and ’60s, the brand had already disrupted the industry with its distinctive Roman flair. Eclettica feels like a natural evolution of that legacy.

“Each creation embodies the harmony of contrast, born of multiplicity and transformed into wearable art.” says Lucia Silvestri, Creative Director at Bvlgari Jewellery. Take the Seres Scarf necklace, for instance. Crafted in white gold and composed of over 1,180 intricately assembled elements, the piece drapes like a silk ribbon. It’s soft in appearance, but engineered precisely over 1,600 hours, featuring vivid sapphires and emeralds that create a chromatic interplay.

Another standout selection is the Secret Garden necklace, where pop of colour becomes the emotion. At its centre lies a rare 26.65-carat Padparadscha sapphire from Sri Lanka, prized for its delicate balance of pink and orange. The composition unfolds like a Roman courtyard at dusk, layered with contrasting textures and hues like onyx inlays, cabochon emeralds, purple sapphires and a mix of cuts that bring rhythm to the design. “It was love at first sight…”, recalls Lucia.

Evoking the suspended emotion of Francesco Hayez’s The Kiss, the Incontro Segreto ring reinterprets the classic toi et moi motif. Set in white gold, two distinct gemstones (a 7.85-carat pear-shaped diamond and a 5.42-carat Colombian emerald) face one another in perfect balance. While Pavé diamonds trace the curve of the design, step-cut diamonds and buff-top emeralds create a refined chromatic contrast.

What also caught our attention is the Serpenti Imperial Heart necklace that features a 30.75-carat Golconda-type diamond (D-IF), a stone revered for its near-mythical purity and, as lore suggests, a past tied to Indian royalty. It comprises 180 articulated elements and over 1,400 hours of craftsmanship, made to sit beautifully around the neck.

With Eclettica, Bvlgari also extends into high-end watchmaking, brought to life through exceptional gemstones, intricate jewellery techniques and Swiss horological precision. This spirit of fluidity continues into leather artistry, with a series of one-of-a-kind High Jewellery bags crafted from precious alligator leather and into the realm of scent, with three singular fragrances.

“This collection really represents us, because being eclectic is part of our DNA. Rome itself is eclectic — a place where centuries of art coexist, inspire each other and constantly generate new beauty. Eclettica distills this spirit: different worlds, different arts, converging into one unmistakably Bvlgari creative language. And it does so with unprecedented ambition: the Capolavori creations as well as the exceptional number of multimillion masterpieces and transformable products demonstrate how far we are willing to push creativity, technique and imagination to redefine what High Jewelry and High End watchmaking can be.” says Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO Bvlgari Group.
