Jacob & Co x Bugatti release new timepiece with tiny car engine

In 2019 Jacob & Co. signed a multi-year partnership with Bugatti to create some luxury timepieces that were exclusive, with designs that were never seen before.
From this partnership came two brilliant creations, the Twin Turbo Furious and the Epic X Chrono, both inspired by the design and spirit of Bugatti hypercars.
And now, the duo has once again unveiled a unique masterpiece, released on January 26, which will be very hard to forget for auto enthusiasts. The watch has a miniature version of the Bugatti engine placed inside the wristwatch.
That’s right, the Bugatti Chiron Blue Sapphire Crystal comes built-in with a miniature of the 16-cylinder engine used in Bugatti’s Chiron hyper sports car, a project that the two companies spent almost a year developing.

Priced at $1.5 million, every single piece in this exquisite tourbillon has been designed to honour the Chiron hyper sports car. The sleek tonneau-shaped case is inspired by the flowing lines of the Chiron, while the movement power the timing functions and a 60-second flying tourbillon.
The Case
The stunning watch case is made entirely of sapphire crystals. The vibrant blue hue of the crystal was achieved by combining a mix of raw minerals and metals along with a propriety blend of rare earth elements.
Despite its rich blue hue, the case has a completely transparent design through which one can get a 360-degree view of the 578 hand-decorated and hand-assembled components of the JCAM37 manual-wound calibre, including the tourbillon which is inclined at 30 degrees. Many of the 51 jewels used in the movement are visible.
The Engine
Sitting inside the perfectly designed case, is one of the most innovative creations ever. A fully operational recreation of the iconic Bugatti W16 engine, powered by the same movement is miniaturized.
In a statement released to the press, Jacob & Co. CEO Benjamin Arabov said, “At Jacob & Co., we are always developing luxury watches which no one else can imagine. With the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon timepiece, we have done something no one has ever even attempted before, create the world’s first true engine on the wrist.”
