Jaguar’s new Type 00 debuts at Miami Art Week in a playful ‘Miami Pink’

When Jaguar unveiled its Type 00 at Miami Art Week, the car’s connection to the event was far from incidental. Miami’s streets, brimming with Art Deco pastels and avant-garde installations, became the perfect gallery for a car that sees its future steeped in art and design. Rawdon Glover, Managing Director at Jaguar who points to the brand’s new focus on creative fields says, “We know that art is a passion point for our future clients, so what better way than to go and talk to them directly, at one of the world’s premier art festivals”.

Exuberant Modernism

Type 00’s debut to the world in such a setting speaks to a much larger shift taking place with Jaguar on multiple fronts– for one, its new visual identity is founded on two fundamental characteristics – Exuberant Modernism. Clients and car enthusiasts are going to see a completely refreshed side to a car brand that has been largely minimalistic and monochrome.

Modernism of course, has always dictated Jaguar’s make and engineering, with Type 00’s name explicitly paying heed to the brand’s provenance where the ‘Type’ prefix is a link to models like the pioneering E-type. the first zero references zero tailpipe emissions, and the second represents its status as car zero in our new lineage. However, ‘exuberance’ is fairly new concept for this sleek, tech-forward brand, and it will be exciting to see how Jaguar runs with it.

Playful Exteriors

Type 00 is only a prelude to a future generation of Jaguars that will embody this new creative vision. One look at the models whether its the Satin Rhodon Rose (dubbed ‘Miami Pink’ in honour of the city’s saturated architecture), or the striking Inception Silver Blue (inspired by the Opalescent Silver Blue of the 1960s reflecting the companies British roots), it is clear these cars are aiming for higher than just sleek, high functioning technology. The former, bearing resemblance to the striking pink that coloured the world during the release of the Barbie movie in 2023, makes it a difficult car to resist, even for those who know nothing about them.

On the outside, the confident new face of Type 00 combines upright, flush surfaces with the Jaguar device mark at its centre, while its front light signature emphasises the corners of the car, adding a grounded presence. The side profile features bold proportions, enhanced by the Jaguar ‘leaper’ laser-etched into hand-finished brass ingots on either side—an artistic flourish that theatrically deploys to reveal rear-facing cameras. A glassless tailgate and panoramic, body-harmonised glazed roof create a sculptural silhouette, while distinctive horizontal Strikethrough graphics conceal full-width taillights.

Customisable Interiors

Swing open the pair of butterfly doors or the ‘pantograph’ tailgate, and the Type 00 reveals a sprawling cabin where three hand-finished brass lines, including a 3.2m-long central spine, stretch along to divide the floating instrument panels. Travertine stone, used as a plinth, supports both the spine and the seats, adding a natural element to the futuristic design. The seats, sound bar, and flooring are wrapped in a tactile wool blend taking note from handwoven yarns, which bring a warmth and texture to the space.

Jaguar’s Chief Interior Designer, Tom Holden describes the car with great relish, ‘‘Screens glide silently and theatrically from the dashboard, while powered stowage areas slide open softly on demand, revealing hidden splashes of colour.” He continues to explain the brand’s firm belief that technology must enhance the modern luxury experience, not dominate the architecture. Citing the digital screen seamlessly incorporated to the centre of dashboard, Holden shows how the Clearsight display replaces the traditional rear-view mirror to improve overall visibility.

Jaguar’s design team also took great leaps by imbuing the interiors with a range of customisable and dynamic elements. Its body-harmonised glazed roof casts a subtle pattern onto the materials inside, bringing textures to life and changing their character throughout the day. Occupants can tailor the cabin using the Prism case which stows behind a powered door on the bodyside and contains three totems of natural materials – Brass, Travertine and Alabaster. Placing one of the totems inside the centre console entirely alters the mood of the cabin. Everything, from the ambient lighting and unique soundscape to the tailored screen graphics, reflect the properties of the chosen material. Bespoke scents interact with the materials and breathe life to unprecedented personalisation.

Type 00 in the EV Market

As the electronic vehicle market grows crowded, with many brands offering similar designs and capabilities, the Type 00 holds its own not only with its striking looks but with a new approach to technology and driving experience. Built on the brand’s new architecture, the JEA (Jaguar Electrical Architecture) platform, it’s a vehicle designed to combine engaging handling with ride comfort. This along with latest electrification technologies make it a standout in an industry where many electric cars often feel like one-size-fits-all solutions.

The brand’s first new-generation production vehicle, a four-door GT to be unveiled in late 2025, is also shaping up to be a true game-changer. With a range of up to 770km (478 miles) WLTP* or 430 miles (692km) EPA*, and the ability to add 321km (200 miles) of range in just 15 minutes of rapid charging*, the model is set to expand what the car world knows as possible with regards to performance and practicality.

All these cars will be exclusively found in select brand stores for clients around the world. These environments will present spaces that embrace its local culture, complemented by a wider global network of luxury retailers, for clients to engage with Jaguar. It is no surprise, given the brand’s newfound design forward approach, that the first new brand store will find itself at the centre of the Parisian luxury fashion district, the 8th arrondissement.

Automobile or Art?

To Jaguar, cars are art forms. The brand has rested on this belief since Sir William Lyons’ ‘copy of nothing’ approach. But Type 00 brings that vision to life in real and tangible ways. Its premiere, especially at Miami Art Week, previews what’s to come from Jaguar, as the brand strives to return to the roots of its founder’s ‘Copy Nothing’ ethos.

Jaguar’s transformation into an electric-only brand with a family of highly desirable and exclusive new luxury vehicles continues and represents this reimagination of the entire brand image steeped in art and creativity. With a series of curated gallery spaces at the event featuring works by British artists and its ‘Copy Nothing’ installation, Jaguar took its role as title sponsor very seriously. In this fresh era of automotive luxury, Jaguar wants us to know: it doesn’t just build cars— it creates art on wheels.
