A few brands compare to the aura and appeal of fine jewellery and watch brand, Cartier. Iconic for its panther-inspired designs, intricate attention to detail, and par-excellence craftsmanship, the brand is one to reckon with. Earlier this month, Cartier’s most coveted collection, the Trinity Collection completed 100 years. To mark the momentous occasion, the brand unveiled a travelling pop-up exhibition that will unfold in four chapters, from China to the USA. Debuting in Shanghai, the world premiere features designs and art installations that explore the collection’s history.

A brief history
Launched in 1924, the Trinity collection embodies the universal message of three symbolic rings. And more than that, it broke new ground in jewellery for its fluidity of design and daring combination of three different golds – yellow gold, rose gold, and white gold – with three interwoven rings. Officially, the three bands in three different shades of gold represent fidelity, friendship, and love. But Trinity is open to other possible interpretations. At the same time, it evokes the three brothers Louis Cartier, Pierre Cartier, and Jacques Cartier, as well as the three historically significant temples in Paris, London, and New York. Available across rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, over the years, the Trinity collection has acquired a loyal fanbase.

The exhibition
The Trinity collection exhibition offers a truly immersive experience. As you enter, you’re greeted by a series of rooms that celebrate the legendary jewellery line. These rooms feature special designs and the stories behind the Trinity collection, Cartier’s first classic series, highlighted through various art installations. You can trace the collection’s journey to becoming an iconic favourite, adorned by personalities such as French poet and artist Jean Cocteau, Hollywood stars, and society elites.
The pop-up also presents Imagine Infinite Circles, a collaborative art project featuring over 100 works interpreting the Trinity collection by creative figures from around the world across various disciplines. Thirty of these artworks have been curated for this showcase, including contributions from three Singaporeans: film director He Shuming, industrial designer Olivia Lee, and pianist Li Churen.
The exhibition culminates in the Trinity Box room, where the new Transversal Trinity Collection is displayed. This eight-piece collection includes reinterpretations such as a cushion-shaped ring and an upgraded version of the extra-large Trinity bracelet first launched in 2007.

To celebrate the centennial of the Trinity collection, Cartier is introducing new interpretations of the iconic Trinity. Inspired by its elemental origins, the new collection features cushion-shaped rings, bracelets, and pendants.
The Cartier Trinity 100 theme exhibition is now open to the public until July 28th. After its debut in Shanghai, the exhibition will travel to Singapore, Tokyo, and Japan, and will conclude with a grand closing ceremony in the United States. This is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the timeless style of Trinity’s classic design, whether you are a dedicated fan or simply curious about this iconic collection.
