Ferrari Goes Electric with €550K EV Luce

Ferrari has officially stepped into its electric future with the unveiling of the Luce, a radical all electric supercar that blends extreme performance with high design luxury at a reported price of around €550000. The model also marks a rare collaboration with former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his studio LoveFrom, bringing a distinctly design led philosophy into Ferrari’s performance focused world.

Despite the strong technological influence, the cabin retains a deliberate emphasis on physical controls, reflecting Ive’s belief that touch only systems can pull attention away from driving. Ferrari itself positions the design as a challenge to current industry trends, questioning how far digital interfaces should dominate the driving experience.

The Luce is expected to produce over 1000 horsepower through a four motor setup, delivering acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 2.5 seconds. F1 inspired in house electric motors push efficiency and performance boundaries, with advanced engineering reportedly achieving extremely high drivetrain efficiency and rapid motor response at the rear axle.

Inside, the philosophy shifts away from screen heavy minimalism toward a more tactile and analog luxury experience. Physical buttons, rotary controls and mechanical switches dominate the cabin, engineered for precise feedback rather than gesture based interaction. A curved digital cluster is mounted directly to the steering column, while a glass key with an embedded display shows real time vehicle status including charge and range.

The infotainment touchscreen is on a ball joint that allows it to be oriented toward the driver or passenger as necessary, an interesting feature that other automakers would do well to study. More details include Corning’s Fusion5 glass used for the key and center console elements, plus intricate laser-etched manufacturing techniques for precision detailing. Performance-wise, the Luce is expected to deliver around 1,113 hp with a 122 kWh battery, achieving 0–100 km/h in about 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.

Production will take place at Ferrari’s new Maranello e building, a next generation facility designed for flexible manufacturing across combustion, hybrid and electric platforms. The site itself reflects Ferrari’s broader transition strategy, combining sustainability architecture with high performance engineering capability.

The Luce looks like a statement of intent, signalling how one of the world’s most iconic performance brands plans to define luxury in the electric era without losing its emotional core. Now we wait until May, when Ferrari will finally show off the exterior!
