Pangeos, a proposed luxury terayacht

The latest luxury yacht to hit the market is Pangeos — a luxury superyacht from Saudi Arabia. But wait till you hear about the hefty price tag — it’s worth a whopping $8 billion. Named after the subcontinent Pangea, the supercontinent that existed millions of years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras.

Designed by futuristic designers, Lazzarini Pangeos is an itinerant floating city, comprising various hotels, shopping centres, parks, ship and aircraft ports, and all other facilities needed to house up to 60,000 guests in the middle of the sea.

It is said to be built in Saudi Arabia, and around one square km of the sea would need to be dredged and a circular dam constructed before the building could commence. The designers have earmarked a space at King Abdullah Port, as the ideal spot for construction.

Resembling the shape of a turtle, the yacht is a futuristic expression of the continent and is 550 meters (1,800 ft) long and measures 610 meters (2,000 ft) at its widest point. If the design comes to reality, it will become the world’s largest floating structure ever built, Pangeos will have space for hotels, shopping malls, parks and even ports for smaller ships and aircraft to get guests there in style.

The gigantic boat is composed of nine different bows and is subdivided into several blocks. This starts from the entrance of the port area to the main square, which extends into a wide terraced villa and subsequently leads to private houses, buildings, and rooftop terraces, with an upper ‘shell’ zone that offers landing space for various flying vehicles. The lower space houses 30,000 cells or cluster compartments.

Equipped with 9 HTS engines, the tera-structure will be able to cruise at a speed of 5 knots and Pangeos will cruise perpetually without emissions around the planet Earth’s seas. Further, the rooftop area is lined with solar panels, which provide part of the necessary clean energy to power the terayacht.
Lazzarini hopes that construction could start in 2033 and would take eight years to build. For now, you can purchase a virtual NFT version of the superyacht. To know more click here.
