Beyoncé Launches SirDavis in Collaboration with Moët Hennessy

When Beyoncé Knowles-Carter enters the spirits market, the world listens. Her latest venture, SirDavis, in collaboration with Moët Hennessy, promises not just another celebrity-endorsed spirit, but a carefully crafted masterpiece that blends heritage, artistry, and exceptional taste. Named in tribute to Beyoncé’s great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a moonshiner during Prohibition, SirDavis is as much a tribute to legacy as it is a bold statement in whisky.

Design with Intent

From the outset, SirDavis distinguishes itself with a bottle that’s as remarkable as its contents. Unlike the typical squat whisky bottles, SirDavis boasts a tall, gracefully rounded shape with a rose gold hue that makes it a striking addition to any top shelf. Cameron George, global head of advocacy and blender for SirDavis, highlights Beyoncé’s hands-on involvement in the design process. She sought a balance between femininity and masculinity, reflected in the bottle’s elegant form. This design philosophy aligns with her personal reflection on blending contrasting elements, embodying both strength and grace.

A Fusion of Traditions

While the whisky is produced at Moët Hennessy’s Woodinville Whiskey Co. in Washington state, its flavour profile is a harmonious blend of Japanese and Scottish influences. Beyoncé’s preference for Japanese-style whiskies, which are rooted in traditional Scotch practices, guided the creation of SirDavis. Dr. Bill Lumsden, head of distilling and whisky creation at The Glenmorangie Company, explains that SirDavis features a mashbill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley, combining the best of both worlds. The whisky undergoes a dual maturation process in American oak barrels followed by Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, imparting rich notes of honey, brioche, orange marmalade, and toffee.

A Sensory Experience

SirDavis is designed to cater to both casual drinkers and whisky connoisseurs. Lumsden describes it as “clean tasting, smooth and rounded,” with a mellow profile that makes it approachable yet sophisticated. This versatility is a testament to the meticulous development process, where Beyoncé’s personal tastes were a significant influence. Her deep engagement in flavour profiling—tasting various whiskies from Scotch to American and Irish varieties—ensured that SirDavis truly reflects her distinct palate.

An Exclusive Debut

Despite the substantial backing from Moët Hennessy, SirDavis is set to make its debut through a controlled release. With a suggested retail price of $89 per bottle, it will be available for pre-sale online from August 20, with the official launch on September 4. Initially, SirDavis will be found in select U.S. states and premium retailers in London, Paris, and Tokyo. It will also be available in duty-free shops at major international airports including JFK, LAX, and SFO.

In SirDavis, Beyoncé has crafted more than just a whisky; she has created a refined expression of her legacy and artistic vision. This new offering promises to be a conversation starter and a coveted addition to any collection, reflecting the true essence of a legend’s touch in every sip.
