Luxury News Wrap: Turya’s Debut, YELLO’s Bold Whisky, and more

Luxury has no patience for lukewarm moves (end of year already). Palaces are bottling terroir, celebrities are bottling swagger, Maybach is bottling cultural crossover, Mercedes is bottling speed-lust; and Prada? Bottling and reorganising Versace like a high-stakes wardrobe cleanse. It’s messy, theatrical, wildly expensive, and thrilling to watch. What a deliciously chaotic landscape to witness! Read on.

Mercedes-AMG Enters Its Hollywood Era

Mercedes-AMG just dropped a teaser for a “new dimension of performance” featuring Brad Pitt, George Russell, and the upcoming AMG GT 4-Door Coupé. The crossover of F1 engineering and A-list cinema is a calculated flex ahead of 2026’s new regulations:  and a reminder that the Mercedes–Pitt partnership (from the long-awaited F1 movie) is evolving into a full-fledged lifestyle franchise. Expect glossy behind-the-scenes content, dramatic pit-lane shots, and a car positioned as the grown-up fantasy of every speed-obsessed cinephile.

Prada–Versace: The $1.4bn Shake-Up Claims Its First Exit

Barely two days after Prada sealed its $1.4bn acquisition of Versace, creative director Dario Vitale has departed: nine months, one divisive SS26 show, and zero Donatella appearances later. Insiders say Prada leadership never saw the former Miu Miu star as a cultural fit for Versace’s hyper-glam DNA. With sales dipping and a brand identity in transition, the hunt is on. Industry favourites include Olivier Rousteing, whose Balmain drama aligns perfectly with Versace’s maximalist soul, and Kim Jones, who already played with the house during the 2022 Fendace moment. Until the appointment, Versace’s studio now reports directly to CEO Emmanuel Gintzburger. Italy’s luxury landscape is getting spicier by the hour.

Some weeks in luxury feel like a polite press release. This was not one of them. This was a week where India uncorked its confidence, celebrities decided subtlety is for the weak, German engineering flirted with Hollywood, and Italian fashion behaved exactly like Italian fashion: dramatic, emotional, and allergic to stability. Everything felt louder, shinier, and mildly unhinged in the best way.

If luxury is a performance, consider this the front-row seat where the lights never run out of batter (unlike performance cars) and everyone insists on being the main character. Tune in back next week!
