Around the world in a bite: Dos Delhi gives street food a luxe spin
As someone whose work involves chasing down the capital’s most luxe culinary hotspots, I thought I’d seen it all. That is—until a Friday evening led me to Dos Delhi, the second brainchild of chefs Jatin Mallick and Julia Carmen De Sa. Stepping into this high-energy spot in New Delhi felt less like walking into a restaurant and more like crossing into a vibrant new world—where street food gets a global makeover and the cocktails do more than just complement the mood, they create it.
The duo, already celebrated for transforming the fine-dining scene with Tres, bring their signature flair and playful spirit to Dos—a space where bold flavours, unexpected pairings, and a sense of whimsy rule the menu. Within minutes of being seated, my work stress was politely shown the door, replaced by sips of gin-laced Penthouse Panda and the citrus-kissed tequila concoction, Tipsy Angel.
But Dos isn’t just about what’s in the glass, but what’s beside it too. Their all-new Beverage & Bar Snack Pairing Menu reads like a love letter to global street culture with a polished, inventive twist. Think smoky tequilas balanced with umami bites, and velvet-smooth martinis nudging up against indulgent, perfectly crisp nibbles.
Case in point? The Truffle Spy—a bold blend of gin, Campari, Martini Extra Dry, and truffle paired with addictive Truffle Parmesan Fries. Or the knockout Dos Me Up, a tequila-based drink that brings the heat with wasabi and sour cream, served alongside Charcoal Grilled Snack Peppers and Yam Hummus. Every pairing was a masterclass in contrast—sharp meets smooth, spice meets cool, crunch meets cream.
My personal favourite? The unapologetically rich Smirking Cacao cocktail, layered with dark rum, vanilla liqueur, and spiced vermouth. One sip and you’ll find yourself reaching for those Buttered Edamame slathered in Thai herbs and lemongrass ketchup. And if you’re craving something bright and refreshing, Hot Russian Zombie featuring vodka, elderflower, green apple, citrus—has your back, best enjoyed with the loaded Potato Lavash topped with Avocado, Salsa Macha and Chipotle Cheese Sauce.
Then came the moment of truth: choosing dishes from a menu where everything begged to be ordered. The Three-Mushroom Parfait, slow-cooked over six hours for that melt-in-mouth feel, is non-negotiable. Add to that the Barbecue Chicken Cheese Kebabs—zucchini, pepper sauce, and Brazilian nuts stealing the show, and you’re in for a ride. For those who like to flirt with fire, the Guntur Chilli Glazed Crispy Chicken Wings scream whiskey pairing, while Green Candy Tomatoes with yogurt tahina deliver the kind of tangy refreshment that screams “another round!” Craving crunch? The Dos Magic Spiced Cassava Chips and Grilled Asparagus with Brie Butter and Truffle Honey are your answer to textural bliss.
And no Friday night’s complete without a little indulgent carbs, right? We shared a Neapolitan-style Mushroom Pizza, and a Sous Vide Chicken & Cremini Mushroom Sandwich that had kasundi mustard bringing the heat (and the applause). Between bites and beats, we found ourselves dancing at the bar, chatting with strangers-turned-friends, and soaking in the electric vibe. We wrapped up the evening on a sweeter note with the highly recommended Pull-Me-Up Mango & Coconut Rum Tiramisu—a dessert that manages to feel both nostalgic and brand new.
But Dos is more than the sum of its plates and pours. It’s an experience. With two floors of modern art, indoor and outdoor seating, and DJs curating the soundtrack to your night, this is where laidback evenings turn into high-energy adventures. It’s where food tells a story, cocktails speak volumes, and every moment invites you to lean in and live a little louder.
