Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla in association with India Sotheby’s International Realty and Moët & Chandon hosted a fashionable soiree at Signature Island by Sunteck Realty in BKC, Mumbai, celebrating their three decades in fashion, luxury industry, and work with celebrities across the globe. Actress Deepika Padukone enchanted the audience with her showstopper act in a breathtaking ivory ensemble by Abu and Sandeep, while Meezaan Jaffrey walked for the designers’ newest menswear venture, Mard.
Bollywood A-listers were all dressed up and in attendance at the lavish venue including Twinkle Khanna, Karan Johar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonali Bendre, Nora Fatehi, and Bollywood veterans, Waheeda Rehman, Asha Parekh and Jaya Bhaduri. The evening began with a cocktail gathering and later witnessed a dazzling display of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s classic couture.
Deepika Padukone wore a crystal-studded blouse, a long bridal-esque drape and The Circle of Life ghagra, shining bright with plush mirror work, resham hand-embroidery mixed with embedded pearls and Swarovski stones.
Meezan Jaffrey played the model muse for Mard, designer duo’s latest label for new-age men. He confidently took to the ramp, clad in an asymmetrical black sherwani, detailed with coloured outlines and patches, teamed with multi-colour embroidered pants. The collection highlighted a sharp tailoring technique, modern silhouettes and a generous play of appliques and embroidery.
Known for using striking colours and embroidery in their creations, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla summed up their 33 years innovatively by bringing nuances of their signature pieces on the front line. Gorgeous anarkalis and lehengas, dreamy gowns and dresses, emphasis on ruffles and layers unveiled a whole new universe of fashion designing.
