Eurasian flavours blossom as Litchi opens its doors in Delhi

As someone who’s always had a love affair with the rich aromas of Indian spices and the depth of flavor they bring to dishes, I’ve often found myself unimpressed when venturing into the realm of international cuisine. Let’s face it, my palate craves excitement, and bland just doesn’t cut it for me. That’s why discovering Eurasian cuisine was like finding a culinary oasis. The perfect blend of European finesse and liberal use of Asian spice? Now, that’s something I can get behind!

So, imagine my delight when I heard about Litchi, the latest dining sensation bringing the best of Eurasian flavors right to the heart of Delhi. Nestled in the lively neighborhood of Panchshila Park, Malviya Nagar, Litchi promises an extraordinary gastronomic journey that combines the boldness of Asian spices with the sophistication of European techniques. This vibrant new bistro is the brainchild of Ritika Sharma, a young visionary, and Chef Umesh Kapoor, a seasoned culinary artist from Tiger Shark Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. Their collaboration is a testament to Tiger Shark’s philosophy of pushing culinary boundaries with a creative twist.

Everything we tried at Litchi

The moment we stepped into Litchi, we were instantly captivated by its stunning decor and an ambiance that perfectly set the stage for a culinary adventure. The menu, as intriguing as the restaurant’s name, is thoughtfully divided into nine sections: Brunchery, Soups & Salads, Artisanal Sandwiches, Small Plates, Piadina Sandwiches, Pasta, Pizza, Main Course, and Desserts. This extensive range promises a delightful array of choices, ensuring there’s something to tempt every palate.

Embracing the essence of ‘Litchi,’ the signature cocktails at this spot feature a hint of the exotic fruit. We started with ‘Once Upon a Time in Litchi,’ a refreshing concoction of litchi-infused vodka mixed with cranberry juice, litchi juice, and a touch of passion fruit – a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Next, we moved on to the Picante Margarita, a spicy twist on the classic, made with tequila, agave nectar, and a kick of jalapeños.

To complement our drinks, we followed the chef’s recommendation and ordered the Turkish Çılbır. This delightful dish featured poached eggs served over creamy garlic yogurt, flavored with thyme and chili oil, elegantly perched on a slice of focaccia. For a burst of freshness, we opted for Litchi’s quinoa salad, drizzled with a white sesame and wakame dressing that added a subtle, nutty flavor. Our exploration continued with one of their artisanal sandwiches – the focaccia mushroom sandwich. The glazed mushrooms, thick horseradish mayonnaise, and pickled onions created a symphony of flavors with each bite.

However, no food review would be complete without indulging in desserts, right? Out of the three tempting options, we decided to go for the classic tiramisu, crowned with a luscious layer of mascarpone cheese.

Speaking of the culinary haven, Ritika Sharma, Director of Litchi said,“We envisioned Litchi as a place where guests can embark on a culinary journey that bridges continents. Choosing a location that reflects both sophistication and accessibility was key. By using the finest ingredients and innovative techniques, we’ve curated a menu that honours authentic flavours while adapting to our customers’ evolving tastes. Our focus is on creating an unforgettable experience through exceptional food and warm hospitality.”
