Glamour and glitz define this exclusive residence designed by Gauri Khan at Trump Towers

Gauri Khan Designs has created a gold abode on the 72nd floor of Trump Towers, called Aurum. Approximately 2,800 sq. ft. of opulence is housed in the dazzling golden tower, in the heart of Mumbai, Worli. In conversation with LuxeBook, Gauri Khan, celebrity interior designer, and Vinti Lodha, Advisor, Lodha Luxury, talk about ‘The Gold Standard of Luxury.’
The residence was completed in the record time of six months, amidst Covid-19 restrictions. Vinti Lodha recalls the process of designing the residence, starting with the design language, which was discussed with Gauri Khan during their very first meeting. “We thought there was an audience that was ready for a little more flamboyance,” says Lodha of the design style of the flat. Lodha and Khan worked stepped by step, first approving renders, getting in touch every 15-20 days to understand how the project would look, room by room. “She [Khan] showed me marbles, fabrics and we kept narrowing it down to exactly what we really wanted,” says Lodha.
Speaking of her design aesthetic and vision, Khan says “My design sense is a mix of fusion, classic, elegant, contemporary, it is modern yet glamorous.” The designer wanted to create an ambience that reflects the luxury of Trump Towers, envisioning a melange of classic elegance and contemporary expression.
Sweeping chandeliers, antique mirrors and glass décor enhance the muted tones of the living area. A bookshelf-esque standing lamp in the dining room adds old-world glamour. A deep maroon fireplace, topped with an antique mirror adds to the depth of the hall. A touch of Indian handicrafts is added by framed rugs that dot the area and act as pieces of art. To compensate for the low ceiling heights the furniture has been selected to be low backed.
For Lodha though, the highlight is the design of the study. “It was a Covid learning that a study at home is really important.” As a mother to three, she stresses the importance of having a separate room, where parents can work without disturbance.
Trump Towers is known for their prime locations, case in point, Worli, South Mumbai, with spectacular views of the skyline. The view is just another luxury of this opulent residence.
