The diamond-studded cocktail is a collaboration between the Italian restaurant Adalina in Chicago, US and Marrow Fine, a jewellery company. The Marrow Martini, created by Colin Hofer, Michelin Guide’s “Sommelier of the Year,” is more than just a cocktail; it’s a culinary and gemological masterpiece. The real showstopper is a 9.00ctw diamond tennis necklace with 150 diamonds set in 14k gold. The world’s most expensive martini is a smoky heirloom tomato mezcal martini, presented in a mysterious smoke-filled cloche. This unique cocktail combines garden flavours with Clase Azul Mezcal, a Mexican tequila made from agave.
Jillian, the founder and creative director of the independent Maison Marrow Fine, designed the tennis necklace for the world’s most expensive cocktail. She explained that she thought of a tennis necklace, an iconic piece of jewellery also nicknamed the eternity bracelet, as a classic, just like martinis.

While the Marrow Martini currently holds the title of the world’s most expensive cocktail, it joins an elite club of pricey drinks. One such competitor is the Diamonds Are Forever Martini from the Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo, which features a 1-carat diamond at the bottom of the glass. Meanwhile, the Guinness World Record for the most expensive cocktail was previously held by The Winston, a $13,000 drink served at Club 23 in Melbourne, made with Croizet’s 1858 Cuvee Leonie cognac – a bottle of which is valued at an astounding $160,000.
Whether it’s the rich, smoky flavour of the mezcal or the sparkling diamonds that catch your eye, the Marrow Martini offers an experience fit for royalty. It’s more than just a drink – it’s a masterpiece of both taste and design, offering a redefined take on what it means to indulge in luxury. So, if you ever find yourself at Adalina in Chicago, and feel like treating yourself to a little extravagance, the Marrow Martini awaits.

With a cocktail that looks so good, who wouldn’t want to dive in? And for the experience, it might actually be worth the price tag, only time will tell! If you’re not in the mood to splurge on the diamonds, don’t worry – you can enjoy the cocktail without the necklace for $150, isn’t that great news? Fit for royalty, this drink offers an extravagant experience with redefined luxury!
