The Creative Director of Dior Jewellery, Victoire de Castellane, on Monday, released a new line called the Gem Dior. The timepieces and jewellery of this new collection have been inspired by 1970’s fashion.
It includes seven watches that have octagonal faces and clasp-less bracelets and 11 pieces of jewellery (rings, bracelets and earrings) inspired by the geometry of precious stones.
Stones like lapis lazuli, malachite, pink opal, carnelian and tiger’s eye are used to make the watches in pink, yellow and white gold. The brand has been showcasing the jewellery on social media with internationally acclaimed English model Cara Delevingne.
A combination of watchmaking skill and jewellery, this watch (see video) is a flexible cuff construction, composed of irregularly placed links of yellow gold, white diamonds and ornamental stones.
The brand took to social media to explain the inspiration behind the line. “The signature segmentation stands out in bold cuffs and corresponding rings, both in gold and ornamental stone iterations – inspired by the colorful fabric swatches Monsieur Dior pinned to couture sketches – as it does on the clasp-free timepiece, interpreted here in rose gold and diamonds with a mother-of-pearl dial, as a contemporary reimagining of the jewel watch,” Dior posted on Instagram.
