We live in a world of social media where things like Tik Tok and Instagram are leading the way for trends. While influencers are becoming trendsetters, internet trends are catching up with our day-to-day lives. With beauty and makeup trends topping the charts, here are the top internet trends in the category. In a recent report, it was also said that TikTok’s influence dominates Google’s top trending beauty searches for 2022.

K Beauty has gained a cult following in recent years, and the latest Korean skincare trend that has gained attention is Glass Skin. The skin is free of blemishes and pores, glowing and translucent — just like a piece of glass. But how do you achieve the glass skin effect? Experts say it’s simply about layering. Essentially, using multiple lightweight layers of hydrating products. The key to glass skin is ample amounts of moisturising.
Moisturization is essential for plumping skin from within, making it appear full, taut, and reflective. Glass skin requires a number of skin-care steps that must be done in a specific order. ‌ Most glass skin routines recommend beginning with the lightest-weight products and allowing them to absorb before moving on to the next. The seven steps include- double cleansing, exfoliating, toning, applying an essence to your skincare, using serum/face oil, moisturizing and using a facemask.

Move over powder, because cream makeup is one of the biggest beauty internet trends that is gaining importance. When it comes to simplifying beauty routines, fuss-free makeup that we can swipe on with our fingers is the key. A dewy finish is one of cream makeup’s top selling points. Designed to be used on the eyes, lips and cheeks, cream balm makeup is easy to use without looking greasy. TikTok users have also been using the hashtag #cheekfreak which has racked up three million views on the platform thanks to creators showing off the results.
Overnight Curls

Heatless curls are the most prominent internet trend when it comes to hair. The method is all about achieving curls in a heatless manner. A variation on old-fashioned rollers to achieve very natural air-dried heatless curls, it starts with wrapping hair around a silk headband and then removing it to reveal mermaid-like waves. However, this works best when done overnight.
The process can be done on either wet or dry hair. Begin by placing the satin ribbon over your head like a headband and use a clip to hold it in place. Start from the top and twist sections of hair around the ribbon, adding more little by little, then tie scrunchies at the end to keep everything in place and make your way to bed. A hack is using a silk headband for smoother, less frizzy hair.
Glazed Donut Nails

One of the top internet trends is Glazed Donut Nails. After the popularization of Hailey Bieber’s skincare, Rhod,  that was all about that dewy glow where your skin resembles a glazed donut. The glazed donut look didn’t limit itself to skin care; it found its way to nail trends, too. It was during the Met Gala that they made their debut. To achieve the glazed donut look and texture, you’ll need the assistance of gel colour, chrome powder, and an LED lamp. While matte finishes won’t work for this trend, you can still re-create glazed donut nails using traditional polish to create metallic, surreal reflective nails. The best part about this top internet trend is that they can be achieved without visiting a salon! Although this beauty trend is originally worn with sheer white nails as a base, glazed donut nails look great when paired with any bold sheer shade too.
Crying Makeup Trend

Contrary to its name, the crying makeup look is actually a really sought-after internet beauty trend. Crying makeup is all about creating a soft, ethereal makeup look where the lips seem a little raw, the cheeks and under-eye area look flushed, and the eyes appear glassy. The process involves using coral and red shades to create the crying look and it is always complemented by a dewy base.
The process begins with a soft, warm lip colour and it is then topped with a shiny red gloss. Then pink blush is used on the eyelids, underneath the eyes, on the cheeks, and on the tip of the nose to create soft redness throughout the face. Finally, liquid glitter is applied on the bottom lash line giving the glistening effect of tears, and clear gloss amps up the appearance of wetness anywhere you may want some extra shine.
