A dune-inspired villa Dragonfly is coming up in Dubai

There’s a lot of hype around the release of Dune: Part Two, on the big screen and this villa is inspired by the blockbuster Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi film. When it comes to buildings in Dubai, you can always expect something unconventional and this time it’s no different. A futuristic villa inspired by the Dragonfly ornithopters from the Dune film is coming up in Dubai. Designed and constructed by UAE-based architects ISTO, it is located in Dubai‘s La Mer neighbourhood.

At first sight, the villa gives glimpses of a sci-fi movie set. The massive house will comprise nine bedrooms, and the water sculpture in the right villa wing simulates a deceptive feeling of teleporting you to the universe of Dune. Spread across two storeys, it spans a 27,000-square-foot residence and features two curvilinear wings and a flat roofline. The custom-made Dragonfly villa imitates the structure of the dragonfly wings. Lighting installations, metal decorations on the facade, wall-mounted pergola of the inner part of villa fully unveil the characteristics of intricately veined, membranous wings. Metallic accents, glass railings and manmade waterfalls, on the outdoor patio make it look like a dream.

However, it isn’t only an architectural marvel in terms of the building, ISTO has paid attention to the villa’s surrounding landscape. Water features are positioned around Dragonfly and the principal materials used are metal, highlighting a manoeuvrable and sharp architecture, stone and glass, standing the test of time, as well as plaster and water. In addition, Dragonfly boasts striking views of the sea and Burj Khalifa and the view is further enhanced with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the landscape. Illuminated with natural light pouring in from every side, stepping inside the two-storey villa, you can expect a whiff of contemporary and art-deco-inspired design aesthetics. Yet another noteworthy element is the outdoor pool with a waterfall. Expected to be surrounded by an outdoor patio perfect for a pool party or simply lounging during the day.

As per the company, Dragonfly is in the early stages of development and is not currently for sale. The construction is estimated to be completed by the end of the year, and the home is expected to be valued at a jaw-dropping $53 million to $61 million. With a few months to go until completion, it is safe to say that this real-estate marvel is already catching a lot of eyeballs. But what is certain is that the final result will be a testament to Dubai’s advanced technological development and futuristic vision in design.

Dragonfly is going to be yet another feather in the cap of Dubai’s real estate industry. Pushing the creative boundaries, this masterpiece inspired by Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya’s Dune movie series, the sequel will continue from where the first film ended when Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and his family were attacked by the Harkonnens over control of Arrakis. Paul and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) then flee and seek assistance from the Fremen, who live in the dunes of Arrakis. We can’t wait for the film and the completion of the project!
