Aston Martin to launch its first electric car in 2025

The automotive industry is shifting its focus to electric vehicles and luxury British sports car company Aston Martin is not one to miss the bus. The heritage car brand just announced that it will debut an all-electric vehicle in 2025. 

Alongside its revamped sports car line-up, we are eagerly awaiting the battery-powered. While the executive chairman of the automaker, Lawrence Stroll, didn’t give away too many details, he did promise electrified versions of all Aston Martin vehicles by 2030. Aston Martin consumers will see new versions or replacements for existing models like the DB11, DBS, Vantage and more. However, it remains to be seen if the EV will be based on an existing model or be completely brand new. To ease the transition, plug-in hybrid cars will begin delivering next year as it moves towards offering electrified versions of all its vehicles by 2030. It’ll be interesting to see if a fully electric version of the DBX, which is the brand’s best-selling model by a wide margin, or a zero-emission hypercar.  

The marque also plans to release more special limited-run cars, like last year’s stunning open-cockpit DBR22 speedster. This year the brand has already teased us with an exclusive model to celebrate the brand’s 110th anniversary later in the year. The car was first teased in January, but it remains to be seen what shape it will take.  

All signs lead to Aston Martin’s expansion into electrifying its vehicles as the company raised over $784.4 million USD in equity capital last year in hopes to be “sustainably free cash flow positive” by 2024. Fans and automotive critics alike are weighing in on what they think the debut all-electric model would be.
