Luxury fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani launched S/S 2021 collection, Timelessness on Instagram, on March 4, showcasing lightweight opulence for a bride’s big day.
The ensemble has wedding outfits for, both, men and women, occasion wear and ready-to-wear clothes.
The collection celebrates the transition of the grand Indian weddings to more intimate nuptials, which has drapes and silhouettes that are luxurious yet light-weight.
It highlights that the COIVD-19 world has freed people in a way that allows them to be truly themselves. The bride wants to be a part of the festivities, not as a bystander, but as an equal participant, who wants to celebrate with her chosen few guests.
Using playful pastels and metallics and reds, the line has hand-embroidered pieces. The traditional red lehengas have fine tulle base, silks and bandhej embellished with kundan and intricate Benarasi brocades.
For a day wedding and other functions, there is a fun range of pastels and metallics as well.
The silhouettes that make up the collection include lightweight lehengas, shararas, peplum blouses, concept saris, newly structured drapes and anarkalis.
“Persian jaali in monuments has always been of great inspiration to me and I love to find ways to incorporate it in my design work. This season I have used laser-cut jaalis in 3-4 tones on light silk, accentuated with kasab and kundan and the use of precisely cut gota, not only to ensure the sumptuousness of these techniques but also to maintain lightness in the final garment,” said the couturier.
For men, there are sherwanis, kurta sets, bundi and bandhgalas in raw silk, mutka silk, linen and more. The men’s sporting collection shows elegance in linen, pale brocades, woven in antique zari and trademark Tarun Tahiliani chikankari in shades of pale blush onion and ivory.
