Think red, think bold and confident. Every girl has their favourite shade of crimson, and there’s always that one shade that suits your skin tone best. The universally acknowledged ambassador for red lipstick is the evergreen Marilyn Monroe. Cat-shaped eyeliner, feathered eyelashes, and a glossy red lip were part of her bombshell identity. Max Factor’s Ruby Red lipstick was rumoured to be the actress’ favourite. In 2016, the brand had even launched a Marilyn Monroe lipstick collection consisting of four shades of red suitable for warm, cool and deep skin tones. Monroe once said of her signature look, “The lipstick and mascara were like clothes, I saw that they improved my looks as much as if I had put on a real gown.”
