Life will be a vacation, quite literally, for the 39 lucky home owners on the world’s largest superyacht, the Somnio. The plans for the 220-metre long vessel, due to launch in 2024 were unveiled last week. The Somnio will be 40 metres longer than Azzam, the world’s current largest boat. The ambitious project is being helmed by London-based Winch Design and Tillberg Design of Sweden.

The yacht, which has an estimated build cost of $600 million, or INR 4500 crores will have 39 apartments across 6 floors up for sale. The apartment prices start at an astonishing $11.2 million, approximately INR 84 crores, and will be available exclusively via ‘invitation only’. Apartment owners can expect to live in the lap of luxury, as the residents will collectively decide the yearly itinerary of the boat.

Every apartment will be equipped with a personal kitchen, gym, a library, inside/outside dining spaces and distinct dressing areas. Home owners will also have access to a 10,000-bottle capacity wine cellar and tasting room, a choice of restaurants and bars, and an onboard beach club featuring water-sports facilities. A lounge area in the ship’s bow will make for stunning views when it sails past scenic areas. World class concierge services and medical care facilities will also be provided.

The Somnio will offer an unforgettable life on the ocean, clubbed with the luxury and services that mirror those of five star hotels. It will be equipped to travel all four corners of the globe, undertaking eco-missions, and will be powered by clean engine technology. Scientists and marine experts will use advanced scientific equipment to explore the various ocean environments. The scientists will also regularly update owners on pressing environmental and philanthropic issues.

The Somnio is currently being built by Vard in Norway, and is expected to set sail by 2024.
