It’s that time of the year when everyone’s gaze is set on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The entire fashion industry’s might is on display with the avant-garde ensembles. Call it the Oscars of the East coast or the biggest party of the year, the Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night. The 2022 Met Gala was held on the first Monday of May, yesterday, at The Met, New York. The evening was hosted by power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds along with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Regina King – all of who aced the dress code for the evening ‘Gilded Glamour’
The theme, ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’, or ‘Glided Glamour’ is the second part of the Costume Institute’s exhibition. ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ was the first part which opened on September 18 and was preceded by the 2021 Met Gala on September 13. As always, the theme was reflected in the dress code; extravagant ball gowns, intricate embroidery, a copious amount of drama, long trails, jewel tones and over the top textures, as guests interpreted the Gilded Glamour theme.

From Blake Lively and Taylor Swift to The Kardashians, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Natasha Poonawalla and more, the A-listers brought to the red-carpet impeccable that inspired both admiration and shock. Here’s a list of the best looks spotted!
Anna Wintour

Setting the tone for the evening, the lady behind it all, Anna Wintour made a power pact entrance in Chanel couture. The gown embellished with colourful sequins, screamed out bling and was teamed with a cape featuring elegant feathers.

Alessandro Michele and Jared Leto in Gucci – of course! Matching co-ords are the flavour of the season and this dynamic duo blew us away with their black-tie appropriate choices.

Depicting the beauty of New York City, Alicia Keys made an appearance in Ralph Lauren’s couture. The swarovski studded fitted gown was complimented with the black floor-sweeping drape. She proved that maximalism can also look uber chic.

Black seemed to be the memo for the evening ft. Bella Hadid wore a custom Burberry corset and lace leggings overlaid with a chiffon skirt, along with a chiffon shawl. Dialling up the sexy quotient, Bella made a striking and bold statement.

If we were to talk about one look that made our social media feeds buzz, it has got to be Blake Lively’s changing colour Versace dress inspired by NYC architecture. Fusing Art Deco patterns with ornate fabrics, the rust gown transitioned to a breath-taking turquoise hue within minutes. Featuring a long trail and intricate embellishments, she surely secured a top spot on the fashion charts.

Camila Cabello wore a Prabal Gurung white silk Duchesse satin choli gown with a hand-draped skirt embroidered on the interior are hand-painted flowers that add colour to the creation. Opting for fresh flowers in her updo, she looked like a dream.

This much gold might be blinding, but not when it is done by Cardi B. She graced the red carpet in an atelier Versace embroidered golden metal chains dress that created an illusion of a tulle column. Bold yet chic, we are in awe of how she pulled off the look.

Black beauty, Kendall Jenner opts for a voluminous Prada gown with 3D detailing. Flaunting her new hair colour on the red carpet, Jenner, slayed the outfit to perfection. With minimal makeup, her 295-meter Prada dress is one that we’d all love to have in our closets.

A little sparkle never kills. Khloe Kardashian in Moschino. Flatter her hourglass body, Khloe looked nothing short of sexy with her clothing choice. The black gloves tastefully broke the monotony of the gold gown.

Blending Indian design elements with a western touch, the outfit oozed finesse. The gold handcrafted printed tulle sari was characterised by a trail embroidered with silk floss thread and embellished with bevel beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, sequin, and appliquéd printed velvet.
