It’s that time of the year when everyone’s gaze is set on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The entire fashion industry’s might is on display with the avant-garde ensembles. Call it the Oscars of the East coast or the biggest party of the year, the Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night. The 2022 Met Gala was held on the first Monday of May, yesterday, at The Met, New York. The evening was hosted by power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds along with Lin-Manuel Miranda and Regina King – all of who aced the dress code for the evening ‘Gilded Glamour’
The theme, ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’, or ‘Glided Glamour’ is the second part of the Costume Institute’s exhibition. ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ was the first part which opened on September 18 and was preceded by the 2021 Met Gala on September 13. As always, the theme was reflected in the dress code; extravagant ball gowns, intricate embroidery, a copious amount of drama, long trails, jewel tones and over the top textures, as guests interpreted the Gilded Glamour theme.
From Blake Lively and Taylor Swift to The Kardashians, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Natasha Poonawalla and more, the A-listers brought to the red-carpet impeccable that inspired both admiration and shock. Here’s a list of the best looks spotted!
Anna Wintour
Setting the tone for the evening, the lady behind it all, Anna Wintour made a power pact entrance in Chanel couture. The gown embellished with colourful sequins, screamed out bling and was teamed with a cape featuring elegant feathers.
Alessandro Michele and Jared Leto
Alessandro Michele and Jared Leto in Gucci – of course! Matching co-ords are the flavour of the season and this dynamic duo blew us away with their black-tie appropriate choices.
Alicia Keys
Depicting the beauty of New York City, Alicia Keys made an appearance in Ralph Lauren’s couture. The swarovski studded fitted gown was complimented with the black floor-sweeping drape. She proved that maximalism can also look uber chic.
Anitta
Making pearls look as elegant as ever Anitta’s violet Moschino gown spelled out grace. The fit and flare silhouette, featuring contemporary drapes flattered Aniita’s body to perfection. Adding a taste accent to the gown was the addition of pearl string. A sleek updo, let the gown shine bright.
Bella Hadid
Black seemed to be the memo for the evening ft. Bella Hadid wore a custom Burberry corset and lace leggings overlaid with a chiffon skirt, along with a chiffon shawl. Dialling up the sexy quotient, Bella made a striking and bold statement.
Blake Lively
If we were to talk about one look that made our social media feeds buzz, it has got to be Blake Lively’s changing colour Versace dress inspired by NYC architecture. Fusing Art Deco patterns with ornate fabrics, the rust gown transitioned to a breath-taking turquoise hue within minutes. Featuring a long trail and intricate embellishments, she surely secured a top spot on the fashion charts.
Camilla Cabello
Camila Cabello wore a Prabal Gurung white silk Duchesse satin choli gown with a hand-draped skirt embroidered on the interior are hand-painted flowers that add colour to the creation. Opting for fresh flowers in her updo, she looked like a dream.
Cardi B
This much gold might be blinding, but not when it is done by Cardi B. She graced the red carpet in an atelier Versace embroidered golden metal chains dress that created an illusion of a tulle column. Bold yet chic, we are in awe of how she pulled off the look.

If you thought drama was missing on the runway, you haven’t seen Fredrik Robertsson looking otherworldly in Iris Van Herpen.

The 80’s corsets seemed to be a celeb-favourite both for men and women. Gigi brought drama and flamboyance to the Met Gala in her Versace ensemble. The floor-length puffer jacket complimented the skin-tight leather trousers and corset. Finally, bold red lips completed the look.

Adding a vibrant pop of colour was Gwen Stefani’s neon-green gown by Vera Wang. Carrying of the head-to-toe hue with such poise, it deserved a shoutout.

Hailey Bieber floated onto the red carpet in a romantic and pristine white Saint Laurent. And all we can say is she looked like the epitome of grace. While simple in design, she carried it off in true style.
J Balvin
J Balvin played it safe, proving that tailcoats are the ultimate flex on the red carpet. He opted for a Ralph Lauren Purple Label handmade tailcoat tuxedo. Styled with patent leather shoes, his refined taste left the crowd in awe.
Joe Jonas
Joe Jonas looked dapper in a Louis Vuitton tailcoat with lace detailing. Keeping black and white as the theme for the night, Jonas’s look charmed the onlookers.
Kaia Gerber
Kaia Gerber in a see-through silver gown by Alexander McQueen. Adopting the maximalist route, Gerber’s intricately embellished gown featured cut-outs on the waist. The custom-made slashed silk tulle dress with silver metal sequin iris embroidery looked ethereal on her slim body frame.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry was a vision in a custom Oscar De La Renta black silk chiffon and lace gown with draped corset bodice and pleated silk taffeta bustle. Hand-crafted taffeta roses lined the skirt of her dress. With an asymmetrical hemline, the one-shoulder dress was dainty, elegant and feminine.
Kendall Jenner
Black beauty, Kendall Jenner opts for a voluminous Prada gown with 3D detailing. Flaunting her new hair colour on the red carpet, Jenner, slayed the outfit to perfection. With minimal makeup, her 295-meter Prada dress is one that we’d all love to have in our closets.
Khloe Kardashian
A little sparkle never kills. Khloe Kardashian in Moschino. Flatter her hourglass body, Khloe looked nothing short of sexy with her clothing choice. The black gloves tastefully broke the monotony of the gold gown.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian donned the iconic dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. Created by costumier Jean Louis, it is a stunning skin-tight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals. Making a debut with her blonde hair, Kim ensured she garnered everyone’s attention.
Kylie Jenner
Mixing sporty and formal, Kylie Jenner paid homage to Virgil Abloh in an Off White gown. Creating an illusion of volume was the ruffle skirt, while the net veil and cap was a striking addition to the look.
Lizzo
Lizzo was drenched in black and gold in a gorgeous creation by Thom Browne – truly gilded in glamour. The floor-length gown featured intricated detailing that was the highlight of the ensemble. A gold choker and wine lips worked as the final addition.

How much gold is too much gold? Megan Thee Stallion in Moschino made a bold choice that was in sync with her personality. Going a step further, she added golden eyeshadow to her eyelids.
Natasha Poonawalla
Natasha Poonawalla interpreted the dress code with an Indian gaze. Wearing a Schiaparelli hand-forged metal bustier paired with a custom Sabyasachi couture sari and trail. Blending Indian design elements with a western touch, the outfit oozed finesse. The gold handcrafted printed tulle sari was characterised by a trail embroidered with silk floss thread and embellished with bevel beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, sequin, and appliquéd printed velvet. Completing the look were exquisite jewellery pieces by Sabyasachi.
Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj returned to the Met Gala in a custom made all-black Burberry ensemble. While the tiered tulle gown won a lot of hearts, the baseball cap added a refreshing sporty spin to the look.

Olivia Rodrigo brought to the red carpet a refreshing change. She wore a magical lavender Versace gown featuring a thigh-high slit. Staying in sync with the hottest trend of the season – monotone, she looked straight out of a fairy-tale.
