Abhinav Mishra is a force to reckon with in the fashion industry. Beginning his illustrious career as a younger designer in 2014, Mishra has come a long way. Known for his signature mirror work and plethora of colours ranging from vibrant hues to pastel tones, Abhinav Mishra’s creations reflect the idea of modern Indian couture. “The timelessness and versatility of mirror work has helped it become a favourite in most millennial wardrobes as I have seen over the years,” shared Abhinav Mishra.  

 Young, graceful, and elegant picks make him a favourite among many in the country. Adding to his glorious journey in fashion, the designer has taken his next big plunge as he forays into the bridal segment with his first-ever Bridal Couture Collection. One that we’ve all been waiting for! Speaking about the collection Mishra said, “I’m delighted to announce my first ever bridal collection. Weddings have always fascinated me, whether it was a family wedding or a friend’s wedding. I’ve always been drawn toward the institution of marriage, the rituals, and the meaning it holds.” He further adds, “The Abhinav Mishra Bride and Groom are people who are looking for a modern yet traditional style for their wedding.”  

LuxeBook spoke to Abhinav Mishra about his latest collection –‘Abhinav Mishra Bridal 2022.’

Tell us your inspiration behind this collection? 

The great Indian wedding will always be my first love and the reason I do what I do, whether it is Rani Pink Weddings (Wedding Planner) or the love of Indian couture and design with our label. Our first-ever bridal collection, titled ‘Abhinav Mishra Bridal 2022,’ is inspired by weddings and the beautiful love stories intertwined with them, that aren’t just limited to the bride and groom but also follow through family and friends.  

What motivated you to launch a bridal collection?

The motivation to launch a bridal collection was my love for weddings and the meaning behind them.  

Bridal wear is an heirloom passed on from one generation to the other, I wanted to be a part of this by creating a collection that includes the season’s trends along with a touch of our heritage and traditions. 

We’ve spotted a lot of your signature mirror work in the collection, tell us a little about the other techniques used in the bridal line?

The collection is handcrafted keeping in mind the heritage and culture of our Indian weddings. We’ve used elegant techniques for the new collection like Zari — where thread is woven into fabrics to make intricate patterns and elaborate designs — authentic Rajasthani tikdi, hand-embroidered dabka, traditional Nakshi embroidery and the twisted stitch marodi, along with Gota work and signature our signature Sheesha (mirrorwork), that our brand is now synonymous for.  

Mirror work has been a big part of my collections since the beginning. The handcraft has, in many ways, become my signature—I use it in different ways in all my collections. I have used it to create deconstructed motifs with gota and silk threads, and even with prints. It plays a very important role in my brand identity because I always aim to blend mirror work with modern silhouettes. 

The biggest bridal trends for 2022?

The biggest bridal trends for the upcoming summer wedding season are bright as well as traditional colours like red and pink with bold patterns, creating a bright and festive mood that has come to be Abhinav Mishra’s signature. Experimentation will be key and I’m excited to see the trends play out. 

A few tips brides should keep in mind while picking their wedding lehenga?

The best advice for brides while picking up outfits for their functions is to look for comfort, choose silhouettes and colours that are flattering for them and also keep in mind the season of their functions.
