AstaGuru to auction works by SH Raza, MF Husain and FN Souza on June 27-28

Mumbai-based AstaGuru auction house is conducting its annual ‘Modern Indian Art-No reserve auction‘ on June 27-28th. The 100-lot online auction will feature contemporary artworks by renowned Indian modernists such as SH Raza, MF Husain, FN Souza, VS Gaitonde, Akbar Padamsee, Ram Kumar, Amrita Sher-Gil, Krishen Khanna, Meera Mukherjee and Zarina Hashmi. Along with paintings, the auction will also feature some sculptures.
The bid will start at ₹20,000 for all the artworks.
Commenting on the auction, Tushar Sethi, CEO, AstaGuru said, “We are extremely thrilled with our collection for our annual no reserve online auction, which offers extraordinary works by the masters of Modern Indian Art. This work is the leading sale masterpiece. SH Raza created the acrylic on canvas work in 1995. It signifies Raza’s exploration of a single hue—blue. The estimated bid lies between ₹40,00,000 – ₹60,00,000.

Tree by Meera Mukherjee

This Terracotta tree by Mukherjee is a rare work of hers since she mostly worked with bronze as a medium. The work is estimated between ₹15,00,000 – ₹20,00,000.
Study of horses by Amrita Sher-Gil

This double-sided work of Amrita Sher-Gill showcasing a study of horses has been executed using a pencil on paper. The work is estimated between ₹6,00,000 – ₹8,00,000.
