Chanel’s smart-looking redesigned Monsieur Superleggera watch

Luxury brand Chanel recently unveiled its stunning Monsieur Superleggera Edition sports watch. Although a blend of the Chanel J12 Superleggera launched in 2005, and the Monsieur series introduced in 2016, the new timepiece sports a more fresh design altogether.
Chanel introduced the Monsieur collection in 2016 as a classic watch collection for men, made with precious metals like platinum, white gold and beige gold. These watches were released as formal dress watches and so Chanel rolled out its take on a sportier version as well — the Monsieur Superleggera sports edition watch.

The Monsieur’s instant jumping hour window, 240º retrograde minute arc and small seconds have been designed after racing car speedometers dividing the dial-up into sections for the very first time. The movement achieves a power reserve of 72 hours with water resistance that withstands pressures equivalent to a depth of 30 metres.

Decorated with matte black hobnail or clous de Paris guilloché patterns, the guilloche dial matches the finish of the 42mm ceramic case and black coating applied to its manually-wound Calibre 1 movement and it’s paired with a nylon strap lined with bright red calfskin.

The red colour also appears on the Superleggera signature at the 12 o’clock position, on the small seconds counter and at the base of the jumping hour window. Another cool feature is the transparent case back which showcases the watch’s racing movement.
