Shocked by the events unfolding in America in 2020, both Idris and Sabrina took to Instagram to speak about their experience with racism and its prevalent impact. After watching their Instagram live, Christian Louboutin decided to collaborate with them for his new collection.

The “Walk a Mile in My Shoes” collection was created by the trio to help draw attention to the issues of racial injustice, in the aftermath of the death of  African-American citizen George Floyd, who was murdered by police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020.

The shoes have the signature Christian Louboutin red soles along with a few one-off details to highlight the main theme of the collection. Co-designers Idris Elba and Sabrina Elba decided to add a few details that would garner empathy.

Struck by his visit to Martin Luther King’s memorial in Los Angeles, Idris chose the phrase Walk a Mile in My Shoes for its poignant message of empathy, which is printed across on some of the pumps, shoes and bags.
