Experiencing the New MG M9 Presidential Limousine

On a cool, rain-washed morning, the highway to Old Goa stretched across the river, the city, and the paddy fields. The MG M9 glided past the Mandovi River, through Panjim, and along lush paddies. Its dual sunroof opened to grey monsoon skies and a canopy of trees, flooding the cabin with natural light and setting a tone of indulgence. Inside, seats evoked the comfort of business-class cabins. Space flowed and comfort reigned—this was limousine luxury.

JSW MG Motor recently launched its all-new electric limousine, the MG M9 – The Presidential Limousine, through MG SELECT, its luxury brand channel, in Goa, with a two-day drive experience.

Designed to cocoon its passengers in business-class comfort, the MG M9 is a 7-seater electric limousine positioned as a premium, sustainable option. It emphasises opulent comfort, advanced technology, and eco-friendly performance. Launched at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹69.90 lakhs, it brings unprecedented luxury and exclusivity to Indian roads. The vehicle offers a 548 km range.

Milind Shah, Interim Head at MG SELECT, says, “The MG M9 is a key part of our broader strategy to redefine luxury mobility in India through New Energy Vehicles. It’s crafted for new-age consumers—entrepreneurs, business leaders, and tastemakers—who prioritise innovation, elevated design, and purposeful living. This segment seeks to make a statement that reflects their values and vision.”

A Statement in Design

The MG M9 marries opulence and comfort with advanced technology and sustainable mobility. Externally, a bold trapezoidal mesh grille pairs with split LED headlights and DRLs for a commanding presence. Sleek, waterfall-style LED tail lights echo a ‘Star River War Halberd’ motif, adding a flowing aesthetic.

Inside, the focus is on presidential comfort. The driver’s seat offers 12-way adjustment with memory and lumbar support, but the car is tailored for the chauffeur-driven. Presidential rear seats feature 16-way power adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massage modes. At the touch of a button, the seat reclines into business-class comfort or offers various massage options. Premium leather and suede wrap the interiors, a panoramic sunroof frames the skies, and a 13-speaker JBL sound system completes the cocoon. A 64-colour ambient lighting system personalizes the mood. All of this comes in a sleek, over 5-metre silhouette with electric sliding doors and LED lighting.

Tech at Its Core

The M9 integrates cutting-edge connectivity and performance. Powered by a single electric motor producing 245 PS (≈approximately 241 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, it features a 90 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery housed in an aluminum shell for durability, delivering up to 548 km on a single charge. Multiple drive modes—Sport, Normal, and Eco—allow efficiency or dynamism, while independent MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear ensure a smooth ride.

Within the cabin, intelligent armrest screens control A/C, seats, massage, sunroof, and lighting. A dual-screen dashboard, Digital IRVM, and ‘Powered Boss Mode’ enhance convenience. The limousine comes with Level 2

ADAS, a 5-star safety rating, and partial automation, allowing steering and acceleration/deceleration control under specific conditions.

A Market in Motion

India’s ultra-premium EV segment is gaining momentum, driven by awareness, infrastructure, and shifting consumer values. “In the first five months of 2025, luxury EV sales surged 66% year-on-year, with EVs now accounting for 11% of all luxury sales, up from 7% last year,” Shah notes. “Buyers increasingly seek EVs that combine performance with luxury, and this is the right moment to introduce products that embody both technological leadership and cultural relevance.”
