The country of pizzas and piazzas has introduced its newest luxury offering, a ‘Treno Della Dolce Vita’- a luxury sleeper train with retro Dolce Vita era fittings. More extravagant than the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, the high-end train service will have 10 routes and reach 128 cities.

According to a CNN report, the Dolce Vita trains are said to run across 14 out of Italy’s 20 regions. Covering a distance of roughly 10,000 miles, the trains will reach 128 cities. While the itineraries will cover well-known areas like the Dolomites and Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia, they will also allow travellers to revel in the beauty of the lesser-known gems of Italy. The Basilicata coast, Calabria’s Sila mountains, and Matera, where the James Bond film “No Time to Die” was filmed, are just some of the unique places on the train’s itineraries.

The overnight trips in this super luxurious train will last anywhere from one to three nights. A homage to Federico Fellini’s 1960 movie “La Dolce Vita”, the train will feature period artwork as well as elements by renowned designers like Gio Ponti, Carlo Scarpa, and Piero Fornasetti.
Each of the trains will have a capacity of 64 guests in its 11 carriages, with 12 deluxe cabins and 20 suites. Also on board will be live entertainment, a lounge bar, and fine dining, plus services to assist with travel planning.

A test route from Rome to Civitavecchia took off in a vintage train, which was catered by Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco. The Treno Dolce Vita, set to make its debut in 2023, is a joint project between Trenitalia, part of Italy’s state railway company Ferrovie Dello Stato, and Arsenale Spa., a company specializing in luxury hospitality.
Tourism doesn’t just mean hotels and restaurants,” Arsenale Spa’s CEO Paolo Barletta told CNN. “Italy is a 360-degree experience and we need to start again from that experience to make a complete offering.”- and with The Treno Dolce Vita, that’s exactly what they are offering, a chance to experience Italy in all its glory, whilst enjoying unparalleled luxury and premium services.
