Ruhi Gilder
Fashion couturiers Falguni & Shane Peacock introduce their first-ever designer bridal jewellery line in association with diamond jewellery label, ORRA. Shimmering chandelier earrings, asymmetrical neckpieces, are part of the six necklace and earring edit, which is crafted using ORRA’s signature 73 facet Crown Star diamond.

Modelling the lovely jewels is Disha Patani, the face of ORRA, dressed in, of course, Falguni Shane Peacock. Commenting on the collection, Disha says, “ORRA is a brand that embodies femininity and beauty, and the collection captures what we, as modern women, want.” Designer Falguni Shane Peacock speaks to LuxeBook about what makes the collection’s ideation process and what she loves about it.

What was your vision for the collection?
When we set out to collaborate with ORRA, we knew we wanted to create something classic and worthy of being passed down for generations to come, yet versatile enough. We believe jewellery needs to be adorned and played with stylishly instead of being tucked away in lockers. We created a line that the wearer can team up with any outfit and style it accordingly. ORRA’s precision and dedication towards delivering quality, align very well with Falguni Shane Peacock’s design sensibilities, thus creating a perfect marriage of both brands via this collaboration.

How is the process for designing jewellery different from couture?
Designing jewellery and couture is almost the same. Both are all about putting your energies to create something beautiful, exquisite and one-of-a-kind. Honestly, we didn’t find the designing process to be challenging at all because we really enjoyed creating these pieces and had great support from ORRA all throughout.

How have you incorporated your signature design style in the pieces?
The chandelier pieces that we’ve created have designs of our embroideries. It’s like our intricate embroidery has been spectacularly sculpted on the bespoke jewel pieces. They have made our imagination and vision come true with meticulous craftsmanship. The other lighter pieces are extremely versatile that complement every look be it a jacket, or a couture ensemble, or even a saree. We love how fluid the bijoux pieces are, just like Falguni Shane Peacock outfits.

What was the inspiration behind this collection?
The modern bride was our inspiration for this particular line of jewellery. Today’s bride wants to invest and have her hands on exquisite pieces that can be reused, worn again, layered and styled with everything, right from heritage jewellery to fashion accessories; and that is what we’ve kept in mind for each of the pieces we created.
What sort of jewels have been used in this collection?
The entire jewellery line is made of diamonds and gold. However, there is one piece with a drop of emerald in it and I personally love that one. Every time I see it, I cannot help but think how well they would go with all my jackets and every other ensemble in my wardrobe!

Which Falguni Shane Peacock collection would match this jewellery edit best?
This edit is a match meant to be with our latest collection – ‘Love Is’, – which was shot at the monument of love, the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal endured the test of time and is an ode to love. Diamonds, too, like love, last forever. It’s almost like the jewellery edit is an extension of our collection.

What is the relationship between jewellery and couture?
No couture ensemble is complete without exquisite jewellery, and no exquisite jewellery is complete without bespoke couture to complement it. They both go hand in hand and if you have both right, then you have the right look!
What is the one piece of jewellery you never leave the house without?
My wedding ring and my Hamza locket – I always have these two with me.
