A childhood friendship between Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri and three Michelin star chef Massimo Bottura has turned into a professional partnership with the opening of Osteria da Massimo Bottura Beverly Hills. An intimate restaurant on the roof of Gucci’s flagship Los Angeles store, this project is a continuation of Massimo’s collaboration with the Italian luxury brand, which began in 2018 with Gucci Osteria at the Gucci Garden in Florence.
The new restaurant is an interesting addition to the dynamic and culturally diverse Los Angeles food landscape and boasts of an outdoor seating and sprawling views of Beverly Hills. Chef Karime López, the first female Mexican chef to receive a Michelin star is also the chef de cuisine at Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Florence. Having worked as Karime’s Sous Chef in Italy, chef Mattia Agazzi has also relocated to LA and the trio has together curated a menu that includes classic Italian recipes transformed into cross-cultural compositions by mixing references, techniques and flavours within each dish. Using organic produce sourced from local farmer’s markets, the menu will include signature dishes such as Chef Massimo’s famed Tortellini with Parmigiano Reggiano cream and the legendary Emilia burger and new California-inspired dishes.
The design includes Gucci décor wallpaper, antique mirrors, red marble dining tables and wicker dining chairs that have also been used in the restaurant in Florence. Some unique elements used in the LA restaurant are herringbone wood flooring and cherry red velvet banquettes, while the outdoor terrace has Italian marble mosaic floors and features an antique wooden pulpit serving as the Osteria’s outdoor bar. The eatery can easily accommodate nearly 50 guests for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Officially opened on February 17, 2020, the space can be accessed from inside the Gucci Beverly Hills store as well as from Rodeo Drive with an availability of valet parking. It serves lunch between 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM and dinner between 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
