Hollywood dresses their best for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ inaugural gala

The Opening Gala for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures served up pictures of the crème de la crème of Hollywood, dressed in their best. After almost a decade of waiting, the museum of movie memorabilia is set to open to the public on the 30th of September in LA. The space will house displays of Oscars, Black Panther costumes and a pair of Dorothy’s ruby slippers from 1939’s The Wizard of Oz.

Hollywood’s glitterati walked down the gala’s green carpet in primarily black ensembles, ballgowns, and column dresses, scroll to see more!  

Anna Kendrick  

Dressed in a black strapless Dolce & Gabbana corseted gown with a bouffant-styled skirt, Kendrick tops her look with Kwiat jewellery.  

Eva Longoria 

Black seemed to be the colour of choice, as Eva Longoria too wore a black velvet Yves Saint Laurent gown, complete with a bright red lip. 

Gabrielle Union-Wade 

Gabrielle Union-Wade walks down the green carpet in a fun and flirty Alexandre Vauthier sheer black number. 

Halle Berry 

Halle Berry struts down the red carpet in an LBD by Etro, with dramatic puffed sleeves and a plunging neckline. 

Jacob Elordi & Kaia Gerber

Looking classic in Celine, Elordi and Gerber make their red carpet debut at the Academy Museum gala. While Elordi looked classic in a black tux, Gerber shimmered in a gold dress by the French luxury house. 

Lady Gaga 

The singer wore a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture column dress in black velvet with a baby blue peau de soie stole for the inaugural gala. Lady Gaga paired the outfit with 26.82-carat earrings, from Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie Collection, and a Vague ring from the Precious Lace Collection. 

Nicole Kidman  

The elegant actress donned a SS22 Rodarte column gown embellished with large, sequinned flowers for the big night.  

Olivia Rodrigo  

This pop star stole the limelight in her Saint Lauren risqué black gown! All the attention was on the dress, and it was accompanied by simple black strappy heels and no jewellery.  

Tessa Thompson 

In a Christian Dior Couture fringe feathered gown accessorised with a thin belt, Tessa Thompson looked perfect for the opening night gala.
