Do you love fashion? Are you one to dive into the archives and understand the history of couture? If you just said yes, this is an exhibit you wouldn’t want to miss. British fashion is known for a sophisticated savoir-faire and flair reminiscent of the royals, and the Icons of British Fashion pays homage to the art featuring the works of 12 brilliant British designers. Scheduled to take place between March, 23 and June 30 at UNESCO World Heritage site, Blenheim Palace, it features a line-up of world-class designers including Barbour, Bruce Oldfield, Jean Muir, Lulu Guinness, Stella McCartney, Stephen Jones Millinery for Christian Dior, Temperley London, Terry de Havilland, Turnbull & Asser, Vivienne Westwood and Zandra Rhodes. The upcoming exhibition will celebrate fashion from the past through to the present day and will feature bespoke designs and loans from some huge names in the fashion world.  The offering marks the biggest exhibition in the palace’s 300-year history and took 12 long months to curate.

At the Palace, each fashion house will take over one room allowing the audience to marvel at the highly visual exhibition dramatically lit. Each space along the visitor route in the 300-year-old Palace will pay homage to a British fashion icon starting in the Great Hall with designs on display by the late Dame Vivienne Westwood and creative partner Andreas Kronthaler. However a key highlight of Icons of British Fashion will be the impressive array of legendary designers, by icon of fashion, Sir Winston Churchill. 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill’s birth, and to celebrate the momentous occasion visitors can see one of the original Churchill Siren Suits.

Kate Ballenger, Keeper of Palace and Collections said, “We are incredibly excited to finally unveil what’s been years in the making; this exhibition will give visitors an insight into the fascinating world of British fashion in such a unique setting. Icons of British Fashion is the first of its kind at Blenheim Palace, and to be able to partner with some of the most widely celebrated designers and brands in the world to bring together a collection of garments, accessories and artefacts is something we’re immensely proud of.” She further adds, ” visitors can expect the creative curation of clothing, accessories, drawings, photography and archival materials, displayed amongst the priceless Blenheim collection in a fresh and engaging way.”

The fashion exhibition will be the latest spectacle at Blenheim Palace following the hugely popular Royal Connections, Crowns and Coronets in the summer 2023 and contemporary art exhibitions by Ai Weiwei and Maurizio Cattelan Maurizio Cattelan.
