Inside Maria Sharapova’s new $11 million home in California

Tennis legend and also one of the former top players in the industry, Maria Sharapova has splurged on yet another new mansion in California. While her series of accolades exceeds her skills, the newest feather to her cap is not on the tennis court, but in the realm of luxury real estate. The former world No. 1, who retired from professional tennis in 2020, has invested $11 million in a lavish Californian residence that epitomizes opulence and modern elegance. When it comes to luxury real estate, the tennis champion is big on investments. The 36-year-old has a penchant for luxury homes and currently has properties in Manhattan Beach and Summerland (both in California) and a beachfront home in Florida.

As per sources, the property was sold by the widow of a Chicago real estate tycoon to Sharapova. Situated in the exclusive community of Montecito, Sharapova’s new $11 million home is a sight to behold. The vicinity is one of the most plush areas in Chicago and  is home to celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Designed by architect Lockwood de Forest Jr. and completed circa 1949, the five-bedroom main house is surrounded by 3.3 acres of lush lawns and well-manicured terraced gardens. Contemporary in design, the architecture seamlessly blends classical and modern design elements, creating a harmonious and visually stunning masterpiece. The exterior is surrounded by lush greenery and manicured gardens. Overlooking the ocean, Sharapova’s new $11 million home is a walled and gated estate and lies in the foothills above downtown Montecito.

On the inside, large bay windows and wooden architecture fill her home with natural light and warmth. You are bound to be awe-inspired by the skylit-topped entry foyer which connects to a living room that defines opulence. A highlight in the living room is the large brick fireplace that is at once modern yet oozes a rustic and old-world charm.
The interiors boast a perfect blend of sophistication and comfort. High ceilings, expansive windows, and carefully chosen furnishings create an atmosphere of luxury, with natural light flooding the living spaces. The heart of the home is undoubtedly the gourmet kitchen, equipped with top-of-the-line appliances and adorned with exquisite finishes. Whether hosting intimate gatherings or preparing meals for family and friends, Sharapova’s kitchen is a culinary haven that combines functionality with elegance There’s also a separate and full outdoor kitchen tucked under a loggia.
But that’s not all, other highlights include a lavish master suite outfitted with a fireplace, a stainless steel-shelled soaking tub and vanishing walls of glass that provide direct access to a covered terrace with pool and ocean views.
To entertain guests, Sharapova’s new $ 11 million home has a fully detached guesthouse with its own full kitchen and lounge area, plus a sunken fire-it seating area and a detached three-car garage.
The property that Sharapova bought was previously owned by Ann Lurie, a Chicago-based philanthropist and widow of real estate mogul Robert H. Lurie. Robert bought the estate in 2008 for $8.3 million.
