Kolkata’s Beloved Flurys is now in Mumbai

Flurys, the legendary bakery and confectionery brand from Kolkata, is set to make a grand entrance in Mumbai, bringing its first-ever tearoom to the bustling neighbourhood near the Gateway of India. This chic new venue, marking Flurys’ 84th outlet in India, promises to whisk Mumbaikars away on a delicious journey with its all-time favourite signature breakfasts, including the iconic Flurys Full English Breakfast, decadent Eggs Benedict, and the celebrated Flurys Sandwiches. Sweet tooths can indulge in Rum Balls, Chocolate & Strawberry Cube Pastries, and a delightful array of Heritage Coupes and Sundaes, all complemented by an exquisite selection of Classic & Flurys Special Cocktails and Heritage Coffees.

Since its inception in 1927, Flurys has become a beloved institution, cherished for its exceptional quality and timeless charm. The new tearoom, with seating for about 100 guests, offers both cozy indoor settings and a breezy outdoor area. Inside, plush seating, ambient lighting, and walls adorned with nostalgic Flurys memorabilia create an elegant yet contemporary ambiance. The outdoor seating provides a perfect spot to enjoy scenic views of the Arabian Sea, where boats and ships of all kinds dot the horizon.

At the launch, Ms. Priya Paul, Chairperson of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels (ASPH), expressed her excitement: “Known for five generations of fine confections, Flurys has been embedded in the hearts of Kolkatans and its travellers. Our brand is committed to delivering the same unparalleled quality, timeless elegance, and deep-rooted heritage that has made Flurys an icon for generations.”

Echoing her enthusiasm, Mr. Vijay Dewan, Managing Director of ASPH, highlighted the significance of the Mumbai market for Flurys, noting the brand’s expansion from two kiosks to its first tearoom outside Kolkata. He mentioned that the business has seen a growth of approximately 25% since last year and boasts industry-leading margins of 18%. Dewan also shared plans to expand Flurys to around 100 outlets by the end of the first half of the year, with a goal of reaching 120 by the end of the financial year.

As Flurys opens its doors in Mumbai, it promises to blend the rich heritage of its Kolkata roots with the vibrant energy of the city, offering a delightful culinary escape for both locals and visitors alike.
