Kamala Harris’s election as the Vice President of the United States last week came with a lot of firsts. She is the first woman to become Vice President and the first highest-ranking female elected official in the history of US. She is also the first woman of colour with African-American and Asian-American roots to hold an office in the US government.
Over the past couple of months, Harris has made several appearances for her campaign trails, speeches, visits, debates and if there’s one thing that adds to her charisma, it’s her ability to power dress to the T. Harris’s tailored suits and sneakers look have become popular and have caught the world’s attention. Her sneaker stride has taken her all the way to the West Wing of the White House. She often accessorises her outfits with pearls.
Here’s taking a look at the new US Vice President’s style files.
For her speech at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware on winning day, Harris chose an all white ensemble, a colour that has been long associated with the women’s suffrage movement.
Two days after being elected, Harris appeared in a dark plum suit and a black blouse for her speech with President-elect Joe Biden on the Affordable Care Act.
During the last leg of her campaign, Harris was seen in a light grey suit and black blouse.
Harris was in Texas earlier this month and she chose a relatively casual look for the event – a basic white t-shirt, black pants, a royal blue blazer and white sneakers.
Here’s a picture of Harris with her husband, Douglas Emhoff urging people to vote. She doesn’t fail to make a statement in her black suit and silk grey blouse, which she accessorised with a pearl necklace.
During her visit to Nevada, Harris matched shoes with a young voter. She made an appearance in an all black look, paired with a space blue blazer, a white and blue scarf and white converse shoes.

In September, Harris visited a burn site that was devastated by the wildfires in California. She was seen in a casual look wearing jeans, a white t-shirt paired with an olive coloured utility jacket and Timberland boots.
And finally her look from her official acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention, where Harris chose to show up in a plum colored suit teamed with a delicate pearl necklace and earrings.
