Sportswear, recently, has broken out of the four walls of the gym. While many people enjoy working out and playing sports in top-quality apparel, many are wearing activewear everywhere from shopping trips to airport terminals. This rise in the appeal of this kind of clothing has seen several famous labels and celebrities joining forces to create collections of sportswear, and LuxeBook lists five of the best collaborations.

French fashion and lifestyle brand Lacoste collaborated with Golf Le Fleur, a clothing brand by American musician and designer Tyler, The Creator back in July to create a retro, tennis-inspired sportswear collection. Featuring 16 pieces of clothing and accessories, the collection is a colour-blocked celebration of an 80s colour-pattern of blues, pinks (“litchi”), beiges (“geode”) and off-whites (“mascarpone”). Apparel includes short-sleeved polo shirts, buttoned t-shirts, varsity jackets, sweatshirts, sweatpants, tracksuits, shorts and bucket hats.

The two iconic brands are no strangers to each other, having collaborated for the last 14 years. Yet, the collections show transformation and currency with every new launch. From focusing on pure aesthetics in 2005, the creations have come a long way with the latest having a more minimalistic look keeping in mind the athleisure trend, along with a strong commitment to eco-friendly, recyclable materials. The latest Fall/Winter 2019 collection utilizes polyester made from ocean plastic, and Econyl yarn, with design elements such as graphic prints, and mesh structures.
Reebok x Victoria Beckham

The second ever drop of the collaboration between the two powerhouse entities from England comes as the Fall/Winter19 Collection; a line of, both, women’s and unisex apparel, footwear and accessories. With strong streetwear influences, the pieces look just as good as they are high-performance. From sheer bras, briefs and off-shoulder tops, to windbreakers, bomber crewnecks, anoraks and footwear, the collection takes on earthy tones along with neon accents.

A result of the first time the sportswear brand has joined forces with an Indian designer to create a pair of sneakers, the collection is a bold, print-heavy descendant of the Puma California line. The shoes feature a textured leather top and graphics such as a lock-and-key print to symbolise breaking free from boundaries, a thumb print to indicate imprints, Puma branding on the toe and heel, and House of Masaba’s characteristic chevron print. Being a limited-edition collection, only 50 pairs of these sneakers have been manufactured and sold in the country.

Japanese luxury fashion brand sacai has always been proficient at tastefully melding various styles and forms of clothing, and this collaboration with Nike is no different. The second time the two brands have come together, they have created a line of performance-wear that is especially geared towards sportspeople, while maintaining a level of high fashion. Full of patterns, textures and colours, the 11-piece collection of skirts, windbreakers, socks and more dropped alongside the Sacai x LDWaffle and Blazer sneakers. Japanese tennis champion Naomi Osaka and 11-year-old pro-skateboarder Sky Brown are the faces of the line’s campaign.
