German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz launched the new E-Class today, strengthening its limousine portfolio in India. The luxury saloon car has significant changes in exterior and interior compared to its predecessor—it has the most spacious rear cabin in the segment, owing to its long wheelbase.
The brand new E-Class comes in three variants E 200, E 220 d and E 350; and for the first time, the company has introduced an India-specific sporty AMG exterior line in it.
With a long wheelbase of 18 inches, the facelifted sedan comes with a 197hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol in the E 200; a 3.0-litre, straight-six diesel in E 350; and a 194hp, 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel in the E 200d.
There’s an all-new front fascia with new headlamps, wider bumpers, sporty split tail lamps, diamond grill and AMG alloys, which makes the new E-class look sportier. It is equipped with a new generation steering wheel, MBUX (intuitive, touch-sensitive controls of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience) head unit with a touchscreen, the 2021 ‘Mercedes me connect’ with Alexa and Google Home integration, and parking location POIs on the navigation system.
The E-Class, which remains Mercedes-Benz India’s highest-selling model with more than 46,000 units on Indian roads is priced at Rs80.9 lakh (E 350 d AMG Line), Rs 64.8 lakh (E 220d) and Rs 63.6 lakh (E 200).
