Not done – Apple’s New AR Glasses: the Apple Glass

Arnav Mandhana

Jon Prosser, the founder and host of Youtube channel Front Page Tech, and avid Apple product leaker, recently released information about Apple’s upcoming AR glasses, which will simply be called the ‘Apple Glass’.

The glasses are going to be priced at $499 + prescription fee, which is relatively cheap compared to other AR glasses on the market, which can go up to thousands of dollars. A major reason for this is that Apple’s current technology only allows Iphones to process data from the glasses, meaning that it is only compatible with iPhones.

The product will officially be revealed to consumers by Apple during their next iPhone Event, which will take place sometime during the second week of September. It will officially be available to purchase by consumers between the fourth quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.

According to a prototype seen by Prosser, the glasses will have a plastic frame and a LiDAR (light detecting and ranging) scanner on the right frame of the glasses. The glasses will also have a wireless charging feature.

Some of the more interesting features the glasses possess are screen displays in both lenses, which are only visible to viewers; gesture control (which will work with hand gestures in front of the glasses); and a special feature which will allow the glasses to scan Apple QR codes. A setback faced by Apple, however, is the production of their glasses in the form of sunglasses, as Apple seems to be having trouble with the display on the sunglasses.
After Prosser’s leak of the Apple Glass, several other Apple product leakers have started speculating the product, and it is stirring up tons of excitement amongst them.
Other AR glasses include:
1. The Google Glass
2. Everysight Raptor
3. Kopin SOLOS
4. Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses
5. Epson MOVERIO BT-300
