Polo Palladio Jaipur is a new addition in the Pink City

Visiting Jaipur undeniably involves a trip to Bar Palladio or a stay at Villa Palladio. The former is known for its iconic blue interiors that blend royal heritage with a lively ambience. Bar Palladio Jaipur was born with a simple intent: to present classic Italian cuisine in a beautiful setting, viewed through the prism of a Mughal dream world. And, the latter is known for its exceptional luxury service. The nine-room Villa Palladio Jaipur is a gracious country estate inspired by the fabulous traditions of the great hotels of the past. Adding another feather to the cap for Barbara Miolini – the force behind all of Jaipur’s Palladios – is Polo Palladio Jaipur; a new-age members-only Polo Club.

Jaipur’s Polo Club carries a rich history and Polo Palladio celebrates the ethos in a new space. The space oozes a royal and opulent charm with traditional Rajasthani architecture and is filled with heritage and historic memorabilia. Designed by Dutch designer, Marie-Anne Oudejans, as you enter the space you are blown away by the concept of more is more, which is iconic in the state of Rajasthan. From wood-panelled walls to bright yellow sunshine hue and teal upholstery, Polo Palladio Jaipur is a nod to Indian maximalism.

The walls are ceiling, much like Miughal architecture is bold with marble inlay and the iconic Mughal flower motif, further enhancing the aura of the space.  In essence, the club pay tribute to the pink city which is known for its block-printed or tie-and-dye techniques, jewellery, glamour and royalty. Polo Palladio Jaipur is a reflection of that. The walls are adorned with hand-painted tropical motifs, while dainty candles illuminate the club at night lending to a romantic vibe. Traditional style lighting is used reminiscent of colonial India. An eye-catching element however is the palatial bar, which is magnificent and extremely visually pleasing. Adorned with the iconic chevron in shades of yellow and teal, the bar is colourful and theatrical. A stark departure from traditional colonial clubs, the staff is dressed in a striking Raj-eraesque uniform in the shade of teal.

Transforming the space into a museum is an iconic collection of paintings. One of the Club’s most special treasures is an oil portrait of polo legend HH Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II staring proudly out across the polo greens. Adding further are other similar paintings, and all together, this collection transforms the space into something resembling a museum, yet it offers a much more interactive and captivating experience.
