Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ memoir, Unfinished, published by Penguin Random House, released on February 9th. Her book is sprinkled with moments that make you laugh, cry and relate with the star all at the same time.
The book gives you a sneak peek into her life, right from adolescence to her relationship with Nick Jonas. In an interview with ‘Entertainment Weekly’, Priyanka shares that she treated it like writing a diary of milestones, and made a conscious decision to share parts of her life that remain unseen.

Sharing anecdotes for her personal life, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas describes how in her teenage years living in the US with her aunt, she had to hide her boyfriend in the closet. Her aunt expectedly arrived home and left with no choice Priyanka had to hide the boy she liked, and unfortunately, like in every girl’s nightmare, her aunt found him and complained to her mother about it.
On a more serious note, Priyanka talks about nepotism that plagues the Bollywood industry. Also shares a horrifying incident at the start of her career that led her to feel objectified and demeaned. During the shooting of a seductive song, the director asked her to start stripping slowly and said: “Jo bhi ho, chaddiyan dikhni chahiyen. Nahi toh log picture kyon dekhne aayenge?”.
She also discusses her botched nose surgery in the early 2000s, one that left her emotionally broken. Discovering a ‘polyp’ in her nasal cavity, Priyanka reveals how the doctor surgically removed it and also accidentally shaved off the bridge of her nose. Being in the spotlight, her slightly altered nose was noticed by the media and commented upon, but she decided to draw a line and keep the details of the surgery and its repercussions to herself.
Coming to her relationship with Nick, Chopra-Jonas reveals an incident any control freak would recognize too well. Chopra confesses she had her security follow Nick and her mom at their first lunch together in Mumbai. Having had a whirlwind romance with her now husband Nick Jonas, she was curious about the pair hanging out while she was busy in a meeting.
As an entertainer and a have had lived in the limelight, she has a lot to share, and a lot left Unfinished.
Commenting on her book before its release, Priyanka said, “I’ve realized you don’t have to be finished to tell your story, and that sometimes life’s greatest lessons are taught along the ride…when you’re still figuring things out…when you’re #unfinished.”
