Designer Aneeth Arora’s label péro launched its Fall-Winter edit DISCO 2020 in a special collaboration with Lakmé Fashion Week, in a funky fashion dance film.
Released on social media platforms yesterday, the collection revisits the ’70s era and takes inspiration from its nightlife culture. Flowy dresses, skirts, comfy trousers and oversized jackets take the spotlight.

Classic patterns such as plaids, stripes and patchwork married with bright hues of red, purple and mint to give the DISCO range a quirky yet laid-back mood.
“This season we took inspiration from the ’70s DISCO fashion. D I S C O evokes some sense of culture from which it originates, this culture communicates internationally in such a way that the wearer looks equally at ease in the streets of Paris or London, as she does here in India. The look is not about an age group or season; it is about a willingness to incorporate the effortless DISCO style in one’s attire,” says Arora.

The fabric used in this FW’20 is pure Australian merino wool woven by the weavers of Himachal Pradesh. Cotton stripes and checks have been sourced from West Bengal, mashru stripes from Gujarat, handwoven silks from Bhagalpur, mulberry silk from South India and light chanderi from Madhya Pradesh.
Matte and shimmery sequins layer up every outfit in the collection for a perfect Disco-esque effect. Arora partnered with French illustrator Nathalie Lété, whose artworks are hand embroidered with colourful beads, threads, and sequins, alongside some ornamental needlework.

The illuminating sneakers that add extra glamour to the entire collection, are from a Japan-based shoe brand Grounds. Its transparent glass-like sole looks like the wearer is floating and walking in the air. As péro calls it, it is the perfect pair of dancing shoes for DISCO 2020.
“This showcase is a glimpse of what is in store at the upcoming digital edition of Lakmé Fashion Week where we once again push the boundaries of Indian Fashion and look forward to future collaborations with péro,” says Nikhita P Bhimjyani, Head Fashion Events, IMG Reliance.
