Collaborations like Manolo Blahnik x BIRKENSTOCK, Porsche x Pixar are making waves in the international market, while locally, we have Maheep Kapoor’s collection Glow for Karan Johar’s jewellery brand Tyaani. McLaren announced metaverse partnership  
Luxury carmaker McLaren has partnered with InfiniteWorld, a metaverse infrastructure platform to build a virtual world to engage with digital consumers. The collaboration will launch a non-fungible tokens collection based on McLaren’s cars.

German footwear brand, BIRKENSTOCK joins hands with legendary footwear design, Manolo Blahnik to reveal designs that are glamorously detailed. The designer takes on the classic Arizona sandal, covers it in luxurious velvet, embellishes Birkenstock’s buckle with crystals, all packaged in an exclusive polka dot shoebox. The Manolo Blahnik for BIRKENSTOCK collection launches globally on March 24, while a second set of styles will be released in June 2022.  
Karan Johar and Maheep Kapoor collaborate  
Glow by Maheep Kapoor – Tyaani
Tyaani, Karan Johar’s jewellery brand has launched an exclusive collection in collaboration with jewellery designer, Maheep Kapoor. Named Glow by Maheep Kapoor, the collection is set with large uncut polki diamonds, intricate enamelling, and filigree work.  
EU bans luxury exports to Russia 
On March 15, the EU banned exports of only luxury goods to Russia in an effort to cause a blow to the country’s elite. The export ban will apply to cars worth over €50,000, electronics over €750, in addition to artworks, antiques and jewellery including diamonds and pearls, watches and clocks, crystal items, porcelain tableware and precious cutlery, as well as luxury fashion.  
Bourbon bottles to be sold as an NFTs 
Buffalo Trace Distillery

Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky collaborated with NFT Platform BlockBar for a five-day auction of their vintage O.F.C Bourbon (1982) but in a supersized variant. Ending on March 18, the auction will feature five six-litre bottles of the ultra-rare whisky NFTs, which will be auctioned on BlockBar’s website. The bidding starts at approximately USD 25,000.

LVMH launches metaverse ambassador 
LVMH is no exception to the pull of the metaverse and has created a virtual ambassador to present its brand innovations at the Viva Technology conference. Scheduled to run from June 15 -18 in Paris, the hybrid conference is expecting more than 1,500 exhibitors. The not-yet-named female character has grey-blue eyes and a brown bob with white streaks.  
New BMW 7 Series to globally debut  
BMW is set to unveil its all-new 7 Series on April 20, which will include for the first time, pure-electric variants as well. The cars will be equipped with technological aspects such as Level 3 autonomous driving functionality, using Mercedes’ fifth generation eDrive system, which is currently found in the iX electric luxury SUV.  
Porsche x Pixar

German automaker Porsche and Pixar Animation Studios will be creating a one-of-a-kind 922 custom car based on the Cars film character Sally. Auctioned by RM Sotheby’s, the proceeds will go towards aid to Girls Inc. and the USA for UNHCR, to support the families and victims of the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. The Carrera will be styled in the same metallic blue tone and silhouette as Sally, and the buyer will also receive a one-of-one Porsche Design timepiece along with it. The auction is scheduled for later this year, celebrating Sally’s 20th birthday. 
Good Earth launches apparel section

At Anita Lal’s massive store in Raghuvanshi Mills, Mumbai, a second floor of apparel has been launched. Conceptualised and ideated by Shani Himanshu, Founder of 11.11 / eleven eleven, the space houses Good Earth’s brands as well as garments from designers who showcase Indian heritage textiles and commitment to sustainable design practices.
