South Korean electronics giant Samsung, unveiled two exciting televisions, yesterday (June 30) – the Serif and the 2020 QLED 8K TV.

The South Korean brand’s flagship QLED 8K TV is the industry’s first 8K TV, which has an ultra-thin form, premium 8K picture quality and superb surround sound audio. This TV introduces Infinity Screen that produces a screen-to-body ratio of 99 per cent to provide a fantastic viewing experience.

The sound features include Q-Symphony, Object Tracking Sound+ and Active Voice Amplifier. These features maximise the immersive sound by delivering dimensional and dynamic audio corresponding with the large-screen viewing experience.

“Building on the strong demand for the QLED 8K TV line up launched last year, we are also introducing the 2020 QLED 8K TV range that comes with industry-leading picture quality, breathtaking design and smart capabilities, which are as useful as they are innovative. We are confident these new TVs will help us consolidate our market leadership,” the Senior Vice President said.
Keeping in mind the content consumption trend, this new range comes with support for a wide range of OTT platforms such as YouTube, Amazon Prime, Netflix, ZEE5, SonyLIV and Voot.
The Serif
The chic-looking Serif is a result of the collaboration between Samsung and the popular Parisian design duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. It is not a regular TV set and has been conceptualised to also be a stunning piece of home décor. The TV adds to the design elements of the living space and is aesthetically pleasing.

The iconic uni-body design in the shape of the alphabet ‘I’ and the high-quality QLED picture makes this model a statement centrepiece in the living room. It comes with an inbuilt Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for seamless entertainment.

Pullan added that the consumers today look for products that sit tastefully at the intersection of great design and premium technology. When designing their homes, they want distinctive, unique and personalised elements, including technology.
Price point
The Serif will come in three sizes. The 55-inch is priced at ₹1,48,900; the 49-inch model is priced at ₹1,16,900 and the 43-inch TV is priced at ₹83,900.
The range of QLED 8K TVs are priced at ₹15.79 lakh (85-inch), ₹14.29 lakh (82-inch), ₹9.99 lakh (75-inch) and ₹4.99 lakh (65-inch).
Where to buy?
Initially, the Serif TV will be available only on Amazon, Samsung’s official online store Samsung Shop and select Samsung Smart Plazas. On Amazon, it will be available at a special price from July 08 to July 17.
QLED 8K and QLED 4K models will be available at all Samsung Smart Plazas, leading consumer electronic stores and across online platforms, including Samsung’s official online store Samsung Shop.
On pre-booking the Samsung QLED 8K TV between July 1 and July 10, consumers will get two Galaxy S20 Plus smartphones with their ultra-premium TV.
