Silvia Venturini Fendi Steps Down as Creative Director at Fendi

Silvia Venturini Fendi, the third-generation keeper of Fendi’s creative flame, is stepping down as creative director and moving into the role of honorary president, marking the end of one era and the beginning of another at the Roman house. After decades of defining its identity, first in accessories and menswear from the mid-’90s, then taking on womenswear after Kim Jones’s exit in late 2024, Silvia’s recent work culminated in Fendi’s centennial year.

Her last full creative chapter was the co-ed Spring/Summer 2026 collection shown at Milan Fashion Week; a colourful, playful medley of crafts, craftsmanship, and Roman glamour and a final bow under her creative helm. The brand noted her influence in everything from iconic bags like the Baguette (1997) to the Peekaboo, and her work with Karl Lagerfeld and later Jones helped steer Fendi through shifting ideals of heritage, luxury, and modernity.

Now as honorary president, Silvia will focus on preserving Fendi’s legacy and craftsmanship, keeping alive the Roman artisanal soul of the house while championing its global presence and overseeing the heritage of Fendi Casa, among other roles. Meanwhile, a new creative direction is yet to be confirmed, and the fashion world watches closely- who will carry the torch forward, and how will they honor the DNA Silvia has helped forge?

Speaking on Silvia’s transition, Fendi CEO Ramon Ros quotes, “Her vision has guided FENDI from its Roman artisanal roots into the future, culminating in the celebration of the House’s 100-year anniversary. I am thrilled to see the new projects that Silvia will lead in her new position, contributing not only to FENDI’s legacy and values but the world of Design and Craftsmanship around the world.”

It’s a defining moment for Fendi, and Silvia’s transition feels like more than a change of guard, setting the stage for what comes after 100 years of being unapologetically Roman.
