The Balvenie Debuts Ultra-Rare 50-Year-Old Single Malt in India
In an extraordinary moment for whisky lovers and collectors, The Balvenie has unveiled one of its rarest treasures in India- The Balvenie Fifty: First Edition. This single, ultra-rare bottle marks 50 years of meticulous craftsmanship at the brand’s Speyside distillery, honouring its enduring values of patience, tradition, and artistry.
Only one bottle will be available in the country, exclusively at G Town Wines, Golf Course Road, Gurugram, a golden opportunity for a discerning collector to own an irreplaceable piece of whisky history.
Distilled in 1973 and aged in a European oak refill butt, this singular cask was hand-selected by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie. Over five decades, the spirit has evolved into an exquisitely complex expression: layered tannins and ripe berries on the nose, interlaced with whispers of rich leather; a luxurious palate of toffee sweetness that rolls into citrus brightness and a deep oaky spice.
Elevating its rarity is the impeccable craftsmanship of the packaging, designed by Croglin, a bespoke workshop in Cumbria. Over 100 intricate components come together in its presentation, including a seven-layer helix structure of wood, each slice less than 1/10th of a millimetre thick, crowned with a 14-carat gold-plated brass display.

India also witnessed the debut of The Balvenie Rare Marriages Collection- The Balvenie Thirty and The Balvenie Twenty-Five, both in limited release.
The Balvenie Thirty is the distillery’s sweetest, most honeyed expression, marrying American and European oak casks matured for decades. Expect silky honey, mellow oak, candied orange peel, and exceptional complexity. Its soft goat leather cylinder packaging, finished with white gold foil, mirrors the unfolding layers of flavour.

The Balvenie Twenty-Five is a masterclass in balance, uniting European and American oak casks for a whisky rich in bold vanilla oak, crystallised ginger, and sweet honey. Its deep burgundy-to-ombre casing with white gold foil rings visually narrates each year of maturation.

Sachin Mehta, Managing Director at William Grant & Sons, India says, “India is home to an increasingly discerning community of collectors and whisky connoisseurs who value authenticity, legacy, and craftsmanship. With the unveiling of The Balvenie Fifty, we are proud to bring one of our rarest and most storied expressions to India — a market that is deeply appreciative of such timeless artistry. This marks a significant step in our long-term commitment to offering Indian consumers access to the very best of our global portfolio.”
“The Balvenie Fifty making its debut in India is a moment of immense pride- a singular expression that captures five decades of unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. To unveil this rare bottle alongside The Balvenie Twenty-Five and Thirty further deepens our story here. Each of these expressions, while unique, is united by a dedication to traditional craft, careful maturation, and the art of marrying exceptional cask”, quotes Global Brand Ambassador, Charles Metcalfe.
