A part of Marriott International, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts has made its debut in Budapest, Hungary with The Matild Palace. Deemed a UNESCO world heritage site, the Matild Palace underwent a thorough five-year transformation helmed by award-winning interior designer Maria Vafiadis and renowned local architects Péter Dajka and Puhl Antal.

Taking cues from Budapest’s heritage, culture and architecture, the property boasts a mixture of vintage and modern interiors and amenities. The former imperial palace originally built in 1902, features 111 rooms and 19 suites with multi-floor layouts, fancy chandeliers, floor to roof windows and 360-degree views of the city.

The guests staying at the hotel can also enjoy views of the Danube, the second-longest river in Europe. Inspired by the blue hues, lavish spa centres and Hungary’s famous thermal bath, the bathrooms in Matild’s rooms and suites are furnished with Carrera marble walls and a gold finish.

For food connoisseurs, Matilda houses three restaurants – Spago by Wolfgang Puck Budapest, Matild Café and Cabaret and The Duchess Rooftop Terrace, all serving authentic Hungarian cuisine, international cuisines and choicest spirits.
The two bars– Spago by Wolfgang Puck Budapest Bar and Lounge and The Duchess Rooftop Bar offer a variety of cocktails and rich liquor in a regal indoor setting.
